Question about 2000 GMC Jimmy

1 Answer

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy 4x2 Diamond Edition. Sometimes when I try to crank the car it won't turn over, but after a few tries in cranks with no problem. I have replaced my starter with a good used one, I have a new battery, fuel pump turns on (loud), and lighting works fine, except for the dash board that has always been out since I bought the car in August. What could be the problem?

Possibly flywheel. Next time it happens, put car in gear, handbrake off, rock the car back and forth then try again.

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy (Diamond Edition) that is having intermittent issues with the A/C. It will turn on when the car starts in park, but sometimes when it is put into drive the light on the switch goes...

Could be the A/C relay under the hood in fuse box on driver side, temp selector, (try turning it bad a couple notches), or clogged orifice tube. If there is air in the system it will also cause the compressor to kick on and off. Check your charge with a cheap refill guage. (walmart, parts stores)

Won't crank

Take mass air flow sensor off and clean the inside with a non-chlronated brake cleaner and allow to dry for 15 minutes then re-install.

2000 GMC Jimmy wont start. Seems to crank just fine but wont turn over. Sprayed starting fluid in and it didnt chug or do anything but keep cranking so I dont think it is fuel related. Any suggestions?

check for a spark if no spark and no fuel to feed bar for injectors ,then try spare key if that doesnt work then its dealer only to look at immobilisor

Turn over but wont crank up

check your E.C.M. fuse, then you could have a bad E.C.M. or coil packs on the vehicle

2000 GMC Jimmy will not start

The oil presure switch does have some bearing on the problem but my suggestion is to change the coil. I had a the same problem with an astro van. I changed everything that you have described and it fixed the problem just for a little while and then all of a sudden did it again. I changed the coild and the cold start swithch and never had the problem again.
