Easiest way would be to borrow a friends battery for 5 minutes and try that, if you are getting the same result, then the starter/ solonoid. Good luck

Where is the 2000 hyundai starter located?

Use the jack to lift up the front of the Elantra and place the car on the jack stands. Double-check that the Elantra is secure on the jack stands prior to working underneath the car.

  • 2 Disconnect the negative and positive terminals from the battery using the open-end wrench, removing the negative first, then the positive.
  • 3 Slide under the Elantra and unbolt the engine cover on the underside of the vehicle using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Remove it and place it out of the way.
  • 4 Locate the starter motor, which is on the passenger side of the engine, connected to the transmission. Remove all wiring from the starter using the an open-end wrench or the ratchet, depending on clearance for tools.
  • 5 Unbolt the starter using the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and socket, being careful to hold it steady with one hand while undoing the last bolt. The starter is quite heavy.

Where do I find the starter on a 2000 or 2001 hyundai elantra?

On the 2.0 lit 4 cylinder engine, the starter is located on the right hand side of the engine below the intake manifold. If you follow (trace) the + electrical cable from the positive (+) post of the battery, it will take you right to it.

2000 hyundai elantra alarm goes off where is the

There is NO kill switch on the 2000 Elantra... HOWEVER, there is a thing called the Key Fob (keyless remote entry system). There is, however, a system in place called the 'starter kill' circuit and it is activated when the burglar alarm goes off.... it's called the burglar alarm relay and it is activated to prevent the engine starter system from being used. There are three ways to get the engine started in such a circumstance... 1. use the key fob to 'disarm' the system... 2. put the key in the ignition and turn it to the 'RUN" position and wait until the alarm stops (horn stops beeping and the parking lights stop flashing), then the engine will start.... 3. pull the starter relay from the UnderHood junction box and bypass the starter circuit (key in ignition and in the 'RUN' position), jumper the starter solenoid circuit to energize the solenoid to start cranking the engine -- it should start then.

2000 elantra starter clicks but will not turn

Firstly - check that your battery is fully charged. Then check the earth (negative) cable connections and make sure they are 100% clean and making contact. Then check the connections to the starter motor - are they tight, clean and making contact? If all is in order then it sounds as if the starter motor needs replacing or overhauling. Because you can hear a click means that it's likely that the solenoid is working ok but there is a dead spot on the commutator. As a final check, get a friend to turn the ignition switch fully clockwise while you tap the body (not the solenoid) of the starter with a hammer. If the starter turns the engine over then you need a replacement/overhaul.

    Verbatim from Haynes manual:

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
    2. If your working on a 2000 or earlier model, remove the air intake duct and the air cleaner assembly.
    3. If your working on a 2001 or later model, detach the shift cables(s) from the transaxle.
    4. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the transaxle.
    5. Unscrew the nut and disconnect the battery cable from the starter motor, then disconnect the wiring from the solenoid.
    6. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts, supporting the starter motor as the bolts are removed, and remove the starter motor.
    7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighter the starter mounting bolts to 20-25 foot pounds.
