Have the services been kept up? could be a few possibilities here, blocked catalatic convertor, blocked fuel filter, weak and dying fuel pump, I suggest changing the fuel filter and adding some injector cleaner and some octane boost fluid into your tank, see how that goes, Good luck
ps. Check trans fluid level.

See dealer now light flashing on 07 ram 2500 cummings

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not start engine).
2. Press and release the brake pedal two times.
3. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly two times within 10 seconds and hold it to the floor the second time.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position and then let up on the accelerator pedal.

Make sure you're not letting up on the accelerator pedal before turning the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

Vw polo maintains engine revs when foot is off the accelerator.

You need to check the cable the runs from the gas pedal to the engine, it might be rusty and need some drops of penetrating oil at the point it meets with the engine accelerator valve.

A3 power surges

run the fault codes
could be a transmission actuator problem as it senses vacuum changes when moving the accelerator and tries to change ratios ( 2000 to 2500 rpm indicates a ratio change which is the speed increase momentarily until the Transmission range sensor puts it back in the correct ratio for the road speed
check the wiring to the transmission
it is a sensor problem not a transmission failing
