your fuel tank pressure sensor is part of your fuel pump assy and is replaceable without changing the fuel pump. sad news is you still have to drop the gas tank to replace it
Using a floor jack brace the gas tank while you remove the straps. With the tank braced in place remove the small screws holding the neck into the fuel door area. With someone helping slowly lower the tank while making sure the neck does not unbalance the tank. Once the tank is down remove all wires and fuel lines. Remove the retaining ring and there is your fuel pump. If possible remove and save as much gas as possible before beginning.
It is in the fuel tank, some vehicles have a cap inside under a seat to get to the top of the tank without dropping it, but i cant tell you if that does or not, the pump is in a sending unit that sets down in the tank, and may only come as a one pice unit, or just the pump alone (call your local part store and dealership to find out before you decide to change it) Plan on buying new fuel tank straps(the rust and break on removal) and if the pump comes as a stand alone unit BUY A STRAINER if on is not provided with the pump (or you will be changing it again in 3 months!!). Good Luck!
i do not recommend cutting above the tank you can do alot more damage.the tank is fairly easy to remove and is the only safe way i know to change a fuel pump.
after removing the rubber fuel filler tube use a long peice of hose and siphon the fuel out of the tank. fuel pumps are a common problem on chevy trucks. stay away from airtex brand fuel pumps the have a high failure rate I had to change 3 in my personal truck befor going to a delco. goodluck!
Hello If you have done a in tank one before this will go easy drop the tank remove the fuel lines remove the electronic connector. remove the ring from the tank that holds the sending / fuel pump unit into the tank. replace the pump on the sending unit, reverse steps to install RD
Raise the vehicle and support the fuel tank with a transmission jack.

Inboard side of the fuel tank straps and front T strap fastener and lower the tank about 6 inches

is the reverse of removal. Tighten the fuel filter bolts to 40 inch
