Question about Ford Bronco

1 Answer

Hi, and thank you for answering my last question. I bought a 1985 Bronco 6 days ago with NO MANUAL..so i just have 3 quick questions that any ford/bronco expert would know, so that i can move forward and get this thing up to par 1- I turn the key to START the car...and it makes a steady, humming noise, but wont turn over. When i try it again, or Again, then it usually does. What may be the issue? (Starter? Plugs??) 2- Got my oil changed at Walmart tire & lube, and the guy mechanic noticed a 'small transmission leak.' What should i prepare to spend to get that fixed? Ballparkfigure? 3 - How many gallons does my 5.8L 351 V8 engine hold? Thank you soooo much!

6 qts oil, 2 gallons coolant, 11 to 13 qts trans fluid. Have the battery tested if it checks out of then try smaking the starter when cranking with a hammer to see if it reacts. This truck has a starter relay that can give the same symptom that a starter does. Thats if you have a voltage drop. So clean terminals also. You could remove the starter and get it tested. A good repair shop can test it in the car if the truck will start for them, at the time .If its a rear seal in the trans leaking prabably around 100 bucks. But if the trans needs to be removed to do the front seal plan on 200 or more dependind on the shop.

I have a quick question if someone can help I have a 98 honda civic es manual stick shift. Was bought about 3 weeks ago and ran great. last 3 days gears been having problems going in. it keeps bouncing...

You are not alone with this problem. I believe it may have something to do with the shift linkage, or even inside trany with synchros.
Is the shifter shifting ok in other gears, do you feel like you are pulling through mud to shift ?
Please let me know.

Just put a new gas tank in a 1985 Bronco, now when you put gas in it, it sprays back at you. Is there a vent plugged somewhere or something?

you might have pinched a vent hose upon installation.have also seen dirt daubers build nests in the vent hose if it was open for more than a day.

When your facing the front of your bronco looking into engine compartment, on left hand side in sequence is 1, 2, 3 front to back. on right hand side it's 4,5,6, front to back. The distributor rotates clockwise. On the top of the distributor, is 1-4-2-5-3-6 starting at the little mark on the cap or TDC. Hope that helped.
