If you put it in the fuel tank then let it finish the tank out and it should clear up. If you put it in the oil then change the oil. This is not intended for long term use. Otherwise it sounds like your car will be ok. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Its an engine not a motor unless your lincon is electric. well if theres alot of white smoke its burning antifreeze and could be a blown head gasket or cracked block

How to stop lifters from tapping for 1997 lincoln towncar?

Lifter noise is typical of an oil pressure issue, or when oil channels are clogged from infrequent oil changes.
You can start by changing the oil and REPLACING THE FILTER. Marvel Mystery Oil or other oil treatments will help clean the oil system and quiet the lifters. If an oil change and crankcase oil additive helps quiet the noise, change your oil every 500 miles for at least 2000 miles, and the lifter noise is likely to stop.
Are you getting a CHECK ENGINE light, or an OIL PRESSURE warning? Have ODB codes checked, and be prepared to replace the oil pump or oil pickup tube, especially if the car has over 150,000 miles. Once you have correct the issue, change oil more frequently.

Instead of the marvel oil I would change the oil and filter and add one quart of Lucas oil additive as it will help coat the cylinder walls and reduce the oil consumption. You may also want to replace the PCV valve on top of the valve cover as a sticky PCV valve could be causing internal pressure to build up in the engine and cause oil to leak past the piston rings.

I have a 2003 LS 430 - was told I have sludge - dealership was going to charge $3500.00 to clean - my mechanic suggested I change the oil & use synthetic & put in a bottle of Rislone - it's been...

Odds are if your engine has sludge (old motor oil that has solidified) it is a result of your vehicle sitting for a LONG period of time and/or has not be serviced at regular intervals. I would suggest adding a bottle of motor flush (follow directions on bottle) and drain oil you should notice a black somewhat lumpy mixture as it breaks up the sludge. You will need to do this method several times until the oil looks as it did when you added it. Driving a vehicle with sludge is a gamble as your oil passageways may become blocked at any time and could potentially cause bearings to wear out or worse. I make no guarantees in my suggestion as the only way to do so would be to fully disassemble your engine, clean it, and rebuild it. From now on I'd recommend to change your oil every 3000 miles and use a quality filter like a fram or purolator and a quality oil like valvoline or castrol (royal purple is the best if you don't mind spending some money) I'd also recommend adding a bottle of stp oil treatment at every oil change to help reduce friction and add to the longevity of your motor.

Sounds like you have sticking lifters. On your next oil change run motor flush through it before you change oil. There's also additives you might try of oil change isn't in near future - Risolone or Marvel Mystery Oil (I know, sounds weird) both are fantastic products.

2000 lincoln ls v8 nocking noise in frout center of motor runs rough

this is sounding like you might have a blown head gasket. you can check for this in a few ways the simplist first. pull the oil filler cap off of the valve cover and check for a milky white or cream color residue on the underside of the cap. pull the oil dip stick and check for abnormally high oil level on the stick.you can also look in the overflow bottle to see if there are air bubbles being manufactured in the fluid. the surest way to tell what is going on is to do a compression test on the motor this will tell you exactly where the head gasket has been blown. not good nes im afraid this kind of repair will cost several hundred dollars.

Cylinder valve is sticking causing lack of compression. Is there an easy way to fix this?

This may work for you. They used to have a product in the 50s and 60s called top end lubrication (A.K.A. marvel mystery oil). You can use marvel mystery oil in your fuel and it will help free sticky valves.

Here is something else you can try and it may work better and it is cheaper. Go to walmart and buy some marine rated 2 stroke motor oil. (supratech 2.99 for like a quart). Mix 1 once per five gallons of gasolene into your tank. This will lubricate the entire top end of your engine which may free your sticking valves. This will also clean the entire fuel system and injectors as well as drying up any moisture in your fuel system, it will also help to remove carbon buildup from the top end of your valves which is probably why they are sticking. It will not blow blue smoke out the back of your exhuast as long as you adhere to the above ratio. If you put too much it in won't hurt it. You will see the results after you use it for a few tank fulls.

You should get an increase in fuel mileage and power using this because it will clean up your fuel system really good. Good luck to you.

YEP BUT NOT REALLY.DO THIS LITTLE TEST.CHANGE OIL + OIL FILTER.BUY A BOTTLE OF MARVEL MYSTERY OIL FOR NOISEY VALVE LIFTERS.IF THIS DONT STOP THE LIFTER NOISE.LIFTERS ARE WORN.ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING 5W - 30 OR 10W - 30 MOTOR OIL.

Noisey lifters, only somtimes

I would get ready for an oil change. But first, make sure the oil level is about 1 quart low. Buy a can of Marvel Mystery Oil and pour all of it in with the rest of the motor oil and start it up and let it idle for 1 1/2-2 hours watching the temp to make sure it does not get to hot. Then do your oil and filter change and let it drain for at least 30 minutes.
The Marvel is a great detergent cleaner and will wash the dirt into your old filter.
You can also put it in your gas tank to do more cleaning.Read the can.
