RPM tachometer needle is erratic when the gas pedal is engaged

More than likely the tachometer is defective, the little motor that moves the needle is failing, this is called the "Stepper Motor" The cluster can be repaired, check online for repair sites, cost around $200.00 US

How do I repair or replace a defective gas gauge?

It is in the instrument cluster, which has to be removed to replace the gauge. It cannot be repaired. Did you first check the 10 amp METER fuse in the fuse panel?

Now let me say, that when the gauge quits, it is more often a fault in the sending unit in the gas tank, and not the gauge. Here is how to find out if your gauge is good: Find the fuel tank electrical connector, and pull it apart. You will need a small jumper wire. Find the blue wire in the body side of the connector (not the fuel tank side). Put the jumper wire into the blue wire terminal, turn the ignition key to on not start, and ground the jumper wire to a metal frame piece. Someone needs to watch the fuel gauge needle while the wire is grounded. If the gauge in the dash is good, the needle will move. It will probably go to either full or empty, but if the needle moves, the gauge is good and the fault is in the sending unit in the tank. Don't give up testing until you are sure the jumper wire is being grounded good to the frame. Just touch the wire to frame and watch the needle movement, once sure, stop so you don't blow the fuse. If the needle doesn't move, first check the 10 amp meter fuse. If fuse is good, it must be the gauge.

How did u fix the gas needle

there is a sending unit in the gas tank, on the top of the gas tank there will be a ground wire it is most likely disconnected, but if the needle works sometimes then it is the sending unit

Gas gauge needle and temp needle go crazy, loud popping noises through rear radio speakers

Sounds like some sort of electrical problem. Could be a short in the wiring somewhere. I would take it to a repair shop.

Gas needle isn't working. We put gas the needle goes up then a few minutes later gas light comes on saying no gas and gas needle is on E

Sounds like the fuel sending unit in the gas tank is faulty. Also may want to be sure all wiring is in good condition before replacing fuel sending unit. The fuel tank will have to be removed to perform fix.

Gas is dumping out of my carb from all seams 1986 w100 dodge 318

If you have gas coming out of the top of the carburetor then you could have either a bad float, a stuck float or a bad needle and seat, all of which are inside the carburetor. The float rises with the level of fuel and shuts off the incoming fuel by pushing the needle valve against the seat thus stopping any more fuel from entering the carburetor until the fuel level drops slightly at which time the needle moves slightly away from the seat and allows more fuel to enter again. You could also have a piece of crud that has gotten between the needle and seat which will prevent the valve from fully closing but that's pretty rare. You will probably need to have the carburetor cleaned, inspected, and have a repair kit installed to fix the problem.

For the past year, my gas gage needle has not moved off of 3/4 full. Just lately the RPM gage has stopped working on my 2004 Buick LeSabre. How do I get them repaired or replaced?

the 2 problems are not related, the gas gauge problem is caused by a defective gas tank fuel level sending unit, here is the part number for that.
ACDELCO Part # SK1030 {replaces 25326326 #25326326, 88963639}
SENSOR KIT,FUEL LEVEL SINGLE PRONG LOCKING FEATURE W/O LOOSE CPA CLIP $144.00

AS FAR AS THE TACH GOES YOU WILL NEED TO PULL IT OUT AND HAVE IT REPAIRED BY A DELCO ELECTRONICS AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER.

Temp gauge and gas gauge not working

I had the same problem with my 2001 Pontiac Montana and the intake manifold gasket. This is a major problem with these 3.4L engines, if you are in the states I'm pretty sure there is a class action law suite against GM for this. I had my manifold gasket replaced and it was about $1000 CAD. You need to get your vehicle looked at right away as this could cause major engine damage, coolant will leak into the engine and soon enough you will be replacing that too. Good Luck
