97 chevy cavalier z2.4, my car wont start up. It trys to start it makes that swirling sound. i just had a new water pump put in, tune up, oil change, and radiator plush. No check anything lights are on....

Who did the water pump replacement? Replacing the water pump required the removal of the timing chain. If, during the removal and replacement of the timing chain, the camshaft sprockets were not doweled into place, they would need to be rotated to regain proper timing. If the crankshaft was not properly positioned when this was done, or was rotated too far or in the wrong direction, severe damage to the valves and pistons would have occurred. This would result in no compression and the vehicle not starting. I would pull the plugs and do a compression check before anything else. If the compression test fails, you need to pull the engine apart and prepare for some hefty expense for repairs.

Water pump

Hey Brian,on your vehicle,it says that the timing belt should be replaced at the same time as water pump,so I would go that route,2 birds with one stone, also it's best to have a pictured step by step guide to do this and you will always have a guide to do repairs, here's a link on buying a repair manual.

Replace waterpump

Because of all the differences between models, manufacturers and years and the fact you didn't post the vehicle information the best advise we can give you would be to go to the part store and purchase either the Haynes or Chilton's repair manual on your vehicle when you get the new water pump so you have the directions needed to do this repair.

What needs to come off to replace water pump an timing belt/ step by step

Your best bet is going to be to buy yourself a Haynes manual -- it has step-by-step instructions on replacing / repairing just about every (stock) part on your make and model of car. It will also have a few pictures to help you make sure you are working on the correct parts. They cost less than $30 US and will save you a lot of hassle trying to find these instructions online -- the information in the Haynes manual will save you thousands in Mechanic costs if you have the time and tools to do your own work.
Haynes manuals are available at most auto-parts stores and some larger bookstore chains. It is also going to be MUCH more reliable than directions you would find (even from the experts here) because it also will include common problems that you could run into, and diagrams to make sure you are completing the repair properly. (it's not that I doubt the experts on here as they have a LOT of great information ... it's just easy to forget a step when writing from memory without direct physical access to the car). In addition, the Haynes manual will be able to help you with future repairs, not just this specific set. Good luck!

Water pump change

The water pump is located on the front of the motor with 2 bolts on both sides. I advise to get a repair manual with the replacement pump, it will show you what need to be removed how to replace it properly. good luck.

WATER PUMP REPAIR DIRECTIONS

You replace it, there are several steps to the job and you would be better aided by obtaining a repair manual as opposed to expecting someone to scan theirs and upload it here. If you can afford gas, you can afford a cheap repair manual on CD over on ebay. There are also free resources with pictures at your local library.

No heat on 1999 blazier

Water pump may be worn and needs to be replaced. You can try flushing out the heater core it self buy disconnecting the two heater hose from the water pump and flushing water through it to get any restriction out. Once you flushed out the heater core, reattached the hose at the water pump and see if that helps. If not then your going to have to replace the water pump it self. Good luck
