Question about 2000 Lexus RX 300

I locked the doors to my Lexus 2000 Rx 330 with the key in the ignition. What is the quickest and least expensive way to retrieve my keys (without breaking any glass)?

I appreciate the answer but would like a little more details if possible. Can a locksmith even get into this car?

Thanks for your answer. I'm would have gotten back to you sooned but I had to run an errand about the time I submitted my question. It is a good common sense answer. We do not have a Lexus dealership in my town but we do have a Toyota dealership. I will check with them in the morning to see if they can help me. If they cannot, I suppose that I will call a locksmith.

FixYa seems to be a great service. It is the first time that I have used an online service like this to get an answer to a question. Just curious -- How does FixYa find experts, like you, to answer questions.

Thanks again for the help. Have a great evening.

Yes it was. It was a good common sense solution. It pretty much confirmed what I already suspected that I need to do. It game we some comfort that the problem could be solved fairly quickly by contacting the right people. I will have to pay a relatively small price for being a bit careless, but hey, that's the way the world works. I like your service. -- Herb

Call a locksmith. They are cheaper than having to replace the glass. If you have AAA or Lexus roadside service they will come out with some tools that they can use to get into your car without the key. Another thing you can do is go to the dealer with your car title. They can cut a cheap key using the VIN number and your title will also show proof you own the Lexus. The key will open the doors but not start the car because it won't be a programmable expensive key. This is probably the cheapest way to get into the car

Take the cars title to the Lexus dealer and get the correct key for the drivers side door (it will only open the door and not start the car) then open the door and grab your original keys. This should not cost as much as calling a locksmith. Click on the link to learn how the tow truck guy gets into your vehicle

It's best to have call a lockout service. In the long run, you can try doing it yourself but you'll end up damaging something.
Unless you have a spare set available, it's best to call a professional. Sometimes your insurance company may even cover it, such as AAA.

How do you replace a lost key for a lexus rx 330

You need to bring the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to a Lexus dealer, where they will check that against a stolen car database, and ensure you receive the correct key. This key usually has an internal transponder-computer chip to match the vehicle. Not inexpensive but there's pretty much no way around this.

Hope this helps.
