there are cheap fixes for a leaky seal, but they're not worth the price because they are chemicals designed to soften rubber and they cannot differentiate between rubber that should be softened and rubber that shouldn't. as far as your sputtering goes, look at your crank sensor harness and make sure that its harness is not chafing ground somewhere. I had a case where the wire shield wore off and was lightly touching ground, but the copper was corroded so it only got shorted to ground when it was damp. strange but true.

It could be moisture yes, could be electrical if the wires and plugs are older they will crack and in humid or rainy weather they would be worse-or when they are cold.

Your fuel pump could well be giving up the ghost.Do you hear a uneven buzzing sound from the rear?
We also replace a lot of overvoltage protection relays. Also,on that baby Benz ,don't overlook the distributor cap or ignition wires with the high humidity.Replace them with Bosch if marginal.

Car sputters and engene light comes on in the morning of rainy days only

check the BAP (barometric air pressure sensor), rainy days mean odd Barometric pressure, so the sensor could be faulty, a simple multimeter can show you what voltage it is putting out, and replacing it on a rainy day might show you that it is faulty as well

Engine breaks down

Wade from the symptoms you're expressing with the sputtering and intermittent electrical failure. Check your engine ground straps for break or corrosion.

Main ground can and does create those textbook symptoms.

Generally it comes and goes from vehicle vibration and temperature. Where any and everything from as much as a pothole / uneven surfaces or humid or rainy weather can cause shifting or moisture to exploit the poor / bad bad connection.
