You might have enough cable to catch a hold of with pliers if you remove the cable handle assemble from dash,if not cut away at cable housing until you do

Hood release cable level inside of car works but wont release hood . how i get it to release to get hood to pop . so i can open hood

Have someone press down on the hood while you pull the cable. Most likely the latch is just sticking and needs a good shot of penetrating oil(WD40).May even try having them bump the hood while hold the latch.Good luck!

Hood latch broken; can't open

if in fact the latch is broken, you'll have to remove the grill or attempt to pop the latch open through the grill. However I have been a Honda tech for 9 years and have never seen a latch break. its always the cable. in which case depending on where the break is you might be able to pull on some of the cable. good luck

How do you install the hood release cable on a 96 honda civic dx?

TOOLS:
Screw Driver, Plastic Cup to place your bolts.

STEPS:
1. Buy a new latch for $20 max. or $5 from your local junkyard
2. Open your hood. Take out your grille. Front bumper. Driver side fender and plastic fender cover.
3. Take the plastic panel covering the hood release latch. (should have 1 plastic screw, just pop that with a flat-head screw driver)
4. Remove bracket (2x -10mm bolts)
5. Remove the entire broken hood release with your new one.
6. Place everything back
7. Enjoy!

How do you open the hood to a 1986 Honda Civic with a broken hood latch cable?

Slide under car in front center and slightly on the driver's side.
Reach really high and find the broken cable and tug to the right (towards the driver side tire). You may want to use a flashlight and locking pliers.

How do you open the hood to a 1995 Honda Civic with a broken hood latch cable?

The only way i can think of would be to remove your bumper so you can get to the latch, and either unbolt the latch from the core support or unbolt it from the hood.

You'll have to track down the cable from underneath the engine compartment,, cut the cable with some wire snips and use a pair of pliers to pull the cable.
