Question about 2004 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

My 2004 Sebring, 2.7 liter V-6 stalled out while I was driving. When I tried to start it, I could not hear the fuel pump or anything. It would not turn over. The lights were bright and even the radio played. I replaced the alternator. It worked for a day. One the second day, again, I was driving down the street and the car just shut off. I experienced the same things with the fuel pump and the radio, as before. Under the odometer, the words "no bu5" appeared both times. I did not get any diagnostic codes either time that the car stalled.

If the fuel pump relay is bad would it cause the car not to turn over?

Check fuel pump relay with an ohmmeter. You can test power to relay and to pump with a voltmeter.
Or there is a loose wire.

If it won't turn over little loan firing, then check battery and cables. Make sure cables are metal to metal connection. Most part stores will test battery, altenator, and starter for free. Also check starter relay with an ohmmeter.

It would turn over, just not fire. Starter relay, battery, battery cables, or ignition connection.

2004 sebring... not 2006 as previous post...will not start. Cranks, but seems to be getting no gas. Was driving it and daughter said felt like power steering was out so she pulled over and turned it off....

What I would do first is see if you can get a bit of gas down the throat of the throttle body. crank it. if it stars then you know that it is more than likely a fuel pump, relay or fuse.

While i was driving the car acted like it wasn't getting gas and then stalled and now won't start 2004 grand am

sounds like the fuel pump went out. It is located inside the tank. turn the key but dont start and have someone listen for a 1 to 2 second hum by the gas tank. If they hear nothing then your pump is bad. REplace your fuel filter first, it is outside the tank and could be clogged. YOu could get lucky, but I bet your pump is bad.

2002 Sebring Convertible Start/Fuel fuse blows intermittently

HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THE STARTER HAS BEEN THE CULPRIT..HAVE NEVER REPLACED A FUEL PUMP ON ONE OF THESE VEHICLES AT ALL

Intermitantly stalls

Check fuel filter, blow back through fuel lines to tank, check lines for blockage, leaks or cracks, drain and flush fuel tank.
Make sure air intake is free from leaks or blockage, filter is clean and correctly fitted
Check fuel pump connections, try to hear if pump operates by turning on ignition (without starting engine), pump should operate for a few seconds until pressurised then cut out, any longer indicates worn or leaking pump, lines or connectors, especially if done over 300000km.
Otherwise check earths from engine to chassis, also EMS fittings for corosion, or have unit tested.

Car shut off while driving has has and added oil will not start?

This happens when fuel supply is cut off. Most likely, your fuel pump (located inside the fuel tank) is bad. Check the wiring system and trace the fuse suppling the fuel pump, if blown, you likely have a faulty fuel pump. Might consider changing fuel filter and relay too.

1997 Sebring starts, then stalls

You need to disarm the alarm, the 2 problems are related, the start and stall is caused by the fuel pump interupt function of the factory alarm, you triggered it when you replaced the battery, The reset procedure is in the owners manual.

97 Sebring stall

Were you able to hear the fuel pump before you had the problem? Some of these cars won't let the fuel pump run until the computer picks up distributor signal first. Chryslers are known for cam and crank sensors going bad. Not a back-yard repair, though. Diagnosing it is half of the problem, repairing it is the other. Hopefully the posts come up with more obvious stuff.
