Question about 1998 Mazda Millenia
How to find timing mark
Timing mark is appearing with number 0 and line marks on the area near the pulley crankshaft.
The crankshaft pulley mark has to be lined up with the cam shaft mark and the piston # 1 has to be on top position providing its intake and exhaust valves in close position. This is called TDC ( top dead center). It sounds complicated to understand, but it is simple to imagine like this: All valves are closed and Piston #1 is up at high position to make a peak compression and a spark ignites to make a compression pushing the piston down to make a stroke. Hope this can help.
