Check the tap under the hood is opening and closing by getting someone to slide from hot to cold inside the car and look to see if the heater tap(it has a heater hose going into and coming out of it )is being opened and shut by the cable,it may be the cable is broken or seized or the tap isnt functioning

Protege air only works on 3

I had the same problem with my 03 protege. It worked on speeds 3 and 1 for a while then only on 1 so I took it to the dealer I bought it from. It was the a/c control head which cost $100. Works great now.

How do i get a new alter nater belt on a 98 mazda protege there is a nother belt in front of where it should go on what do i loosen to take the other belt off its hookes to the power stering and the ac

the belt for the ac is a heat shrink belt, which means it has to be replaced with the alternator belt, you have to cut it off, if you try to reuse the smaller ac belt on the out side it will not shrink tight again and could cause ac compressor failure down the road
