Put an empty gas can in your car (2 gallon or more).
Next time you are just on E,
1) stop by a gas station and fill up the gas can (not your car).
2) Record your milage.
3) Drive around until you run out of gas.
4) record your milage again and calculate distance driven.
5) write the number somewhere in your car for future reference.

6) Fill up your car from the gas can (carefully).
Take the empty can out of your car as soon as possible.

I have a 2004 f150 ford explorer. I have been having troubles with the gages dropping so I took it to my mechanic and they found various codes in the odometer reading area. they searched the codes and they...

Check the ground points. You don't need a cluster. The cluster will not turn the radio or anything else off. I don't have the ground points for the f150. You can probably find them online. Since you're having problems on the inside, look under the dash. Common points are at each side of the cabin area by the side kick panels. Also around the steering column. Any black or black/white wire will be a ground. Since the truck keeps running, the grounds under the hood are probably fine.

Fuel gage always reads as full in 89 chevy camero rs. at first it would read semi accurately until it hit 1/4 tank then over a period of approx. 4 weeks it read accurately a smaller portion of the time....

It's very possible that the fuel sending unit inside the tank has failed. It has the classic symptoms of working erratically for a while then reading full or beyond full as the sender finally stops working. Hope this helps and good luck!

Might Be, a Clogged Fuel Filter, cause if you have alot of dirt in your tank, or strainer in the tank get clogged cause when you step on the brake all the dirt hit the pump !

Have you checked the fuses? Look in the owner's manual for the locations... you might have just blown one.

Fuel gage not workin after going

You could have losen the wireharness from the tank to the frame, check along the frame towards the fuel tank and check for any loose connection. The only other thing is the sending unit in the tank it self may have gone bad. Good luck
