You fill at the coolant or surge tank, and the drain plug should be on the side with the lower radiator hose or the passenger side,it will look like a thumb screw or wing design urn counterclockwise and pull out at the same time.

Radiator cap

find the coolant reservoir on the passenger side of the engine compartment. The cap on the reservoir is the radiator cap. There is no physical cap on the radiator itself.

I have a 1999 oldsmobile Intrigue I have replaced the water pump and the thermostat, and coolant. the car is still over heating. Would air in the system cause this. What could cause this to happen?

Hi,
Check the coolant if there is oil in it and the oil cap if there is a whitish brown substance under the oil cap, means you have a blown head gasket and needs a replacement!
The radiator fins is already blocked, cause by dirt and years of using deep well water, needs to be clean, replace or overhauled the radiator.
The fan is not working and needs to be check thoroughly its motor or electrical system( relay, motor, rad fan switch sensor).
check all of that and tell us what happened.

Need to drain coolant from 1998 Olds Intrigue. What is best way? (3800 Engine)

COOLANT CHANGEON THE RADIATOR (LOWER DRIVERS SIDE FACING THE MOTOR) THERE IS A PLASTIC LIKE PLUG THAT YOU TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE ABOUT 3/4 OF A TURN, THEN YOU CAN PULL IT OUT ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH THIS WILL DRAIN THE RADIATOR, THEN YOU CAN PUSH THE PLUG BACK IN AND TURN IT UNTIL YOU FEEL IT LOCK BACK IN PLACE. REFILL RADIATOR WITH 3 PARTS COOLANT TO 1 PART WATER.
1998-'99 Intrigues equipped with the 3800 engine have a specific process for replacing antifreeze. It is somewhat of a lengthy process and you should refer to your owners manual for doing this. After you empty and flush your system with water (garden hose), only fill the system with green 50/50 antifreeze, NOT Dex-Cool. Avoid Dex-Cool. If you bring your Intrigue to a shop to get serviced, make sure and inform whoever doing repairs and/or leave a note (clearly visible) to NOT use Dex-Cool if they're doing any work pertaining to cooling system.

Cannot find coolant drain plug

It is located at bottom of radiator, you will need 1/2 inch square drive or a 3/16 inch hex drive to open drain valve. Usually on pass. side at bottom end of radiator.

How to 'bleed' the coolant in a 99 Olds Intrigue?

where the top radiator hose goes into the top of the engine is where the bleeder is up on top of where the hose goes in. mine is a copper like flathead screw looking thing ! fill the radiator and loosen the bleeder a little and wait for the coolant to start spraying a straight stream of coolant out of the bleeder! hope this helps!

1999 olds alero leaking coolant

problem could be heads bolts . i put new bolts in put a little sealer on them . make sure your bolt holes is clean free from debris. put a lillte sealer on intake gasket on top and bottom where coolants travel. if all was done . drain engine oil in clean container .set it aside. take radiator cap off .you a coolant pressure rise kit .put a pan under oil pan with drain plug still off .pressure your radiator about 10 psi. make sure you have antifreeze in radiator and engine . when you pressure up to 10 psi look under the car if coolant comes out oil pan. you got leaking head gasket. if not .put oil pan plug back on . put oil back in car . check your freeze plugs also.
