Where is the place to put automatic tranny fluid?

Most cars have a tube-like device with a removable fluid level checking "dip stick" in it connected to the transmission. The d stick has fluid level marks on its very tip showing low to full. You wipe the d stick clean insert it with the motor running in park gear. Insert and remove and take a look at the end of the d stick. Your looking for wetness of oil and this gives you the actual level of oil in the tranny. Compare the wetness to markings on the stick to tell if you need to add more ATF oil to the unit or not. Add a 3rd of a quart at a time and recheck until the wetness is at the full mark - if low on fluid. This dip stick and tube is usually spotted easily by looking for its special knob end - which can be yellow, red or have TRANS written on it somewhere around the motor area - and don't confuse the motor oil dip stick for the one you're looking for. Some cars have no such device. Checking then become a mechanics chore once the car is up on a lift. This link shows great products to assure years longer transmission life. Hope this helps. http://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/Transmission-Help.html

1995 lincoln occasionally has problems getting in gear to go. Seems like it is stuck in neutral. Lasts a few seconds then it gets into gear and goes.

SEEMS LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID LOW.TRANSMISSION SLIPPING TRYING TO GO IN DRIVE.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL. IF LOW ADD FLUID UNTIL YOU REACH FULL MARK ON TRANSMISSION DIP STICK. WITH ENGINE RUNNING A IN OPERATING TEMPERATURE.IF FLUID LEVEL OKAY.CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER IF YOU HAVE NOT CHANGED IN A LONG WHILE.A DIRTY STOPPED UP FILTER WILL CAUSE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP.CANT PICK UP FLUID.

My girlfriend is in need of how to check her oil and doesn't know where to begin. The dipstick on her 2003 passat, the location and color is important for me to tell her but cant remember since it has been...

Good chance that the oil is low and you could be in for problems. The dip stick for the engine oil should have a yellow ring to a tube, just pull up on it and there are markings at the end of the stick as to low, add, and full. If your not sure she can do this, just have her get the gas bar attendant to check for you. Don't worry about the transmission dip stick, if it's an Automatic transmission, the car does not have one. The transmission can only be checked at the dealer or qualified transmission shop. Good luck and hope this help.

How do i check or add transmission fluid

first make sure the car is up to operating temp. with car running and on level surface, pull out the stick on driver side of engine that says transmission fluid. wipe it off and reinsert the stick. the bottm of the stick has markings on it to tell you if the fluid level is ok or low. tranny fluid is added thru the tube for the stick. you will need a funnel to add fluid.

The trans fluid volume after filter/fluid change 2002 4 runner?

use the level you attained after putting that much fluid in to tell you how much more to add. Start the car, leave it in park with the emergency brake on as you do this. If you are halfway to the cold mark, add another 1/2 quart and check again. (the owner's manual should tell you how much it will hold.) Since trans fluid expands with heat do not overfill. After you get it to the cold mark, run it up the road for 20 minutes and then check it again. You should be at the top of the hot mark.
