This is a unique one but I have to ask a few questions first. Are you absolutely positive that the positive cable to the starter is not touching anything, i.e. the engine block itself? Are you sure the starter solenoid is not stuck in the engaged position, as in the starter is not always on (listen for a hum in the motor or feel to see if it's warm/hot)? Make sure the positive cable is intact from the battery to the starter and that there is no break in the insulation around it. The ground cable will not get hot/catch fire unless there is a direct short on the positive side of the battery circuit. Let me know what you find please and I will be better able to help you.

The main fuse under the hood is probly blown, pop the hood you should see a fuse box near the fender, open it up and look for the fuse that says main on it chances are it's blown.

cranking over is a good thing

does the 1991 have a crank angle sensor
chase back to coil if no spark at the plugs

if EFI could be fuel pump or fuel delivery at the injectors

check if the efi has a designated fuse in the engine bay cluster

91 ACURA INTEGRA GS SHUTS OFF WHEN I START IT UP

suggest the first thing you do, is to pull the codes off the ECM, and go from there...more than likely it's a TPI, idle sensor or fuel pump relay thats dirty or sticking thats causeing the problem...
Your local AutoZone can perform the scan and explain the results to you...free of charge.
Good luck, hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

95 Acura Integra starting problem

This happened to me on a 95 Integra GSR and the entire starter did not need to be replaced, just the solenoid pieces. They get old and worn down and the plunger no longer makes a good connection with them, hence the "click". Replace the solenoid panels and sand the plunger and your good as new. You can find instructions for this on the net, just do a search for it.
