One you remove the knob. take a flat head screwdriver covered with like electrical tape or something so as to not scratch your paint. wedge it behind the tail light right where the bumper meets with the fender and pry up. thats it!

Tail lights do not work on a 2000 lexus rx 300 bulbs are fine, all other lights work fine

You may have a fried fuse. Look in your owners manual to find out which fuse it is in the fuse box diagram. If that is the problem make sure to use the same amperage fuse to replace the burned one with. I fried fuse is usually a sign that you have a short somewhere. But they can also fry for other reasons such as excess moisture somewhere. Sometimes they just burn from age and fatigue. It may solve it to just replace the fuse, but if there really is a short, the new fuse will fry too.

How do i change the tail light on my 2000 vw beetle

Remove the cover from the inside of your trunk.Use a flat screwdriver to pop it out. There is a notch on one side so you can slip the flat head screwdriver in to pop it out. When you take that part off, there will be a black knob that needs to be unscrewed totally to release the back light casing. Along the rear fenders where the lights are, there are two gaps. The inside gap (nearest hatch back door), is a release tab/clip on the light inside between the gaps.Insert a butter knife or something slim and pull out the casing (it takes a little force to pull it out). After you pull out the casing, you'll find two light bulb holders, (one is for the turn signal, and the other is for your brake light).Turn the brake light holder counter clockwise and remove then swap out the bulb and reverse the procedure to re assemble.

How do you remove a tail light assembly kit on a 1973 vw bug. i got it unscrewed but there is a bunch of wires in the old assembly how do i remove those with out ripping them out?

Each bulb assembly has to be removed from the lens assembly. Make a small diagram in order to put them back in their respective places. Dana.

How do I replace the rear turn signal light bulb in my 2006 VW beetle

There are round access panels more or less behind each tail light in the trunk. There is a small slot at the edge that you can insert a wide blade screwdriver to pop the panel out. then look for the star shaped knob
unscrew it
Now it will be possible to remove the entire tail light by using a thin flat blade. A putty knife, especially a plastic one would be good. Being careful not to damage the paint, slip the blade under the lower part of the tail light lens and pry the tail light assembly out.

Once the assembly is out, both the turn signal and stop/rear lamp sockets are exposed. The connector can be removed by pushing in a little tab on the side and pulling the connector straight out. It may not be absolutely necessary to remove the connector if the wiring is long enough, but when the connector is removed, it is easier to remove the lamp socket.
hope i helped

Hoe do you change a brake light on a 2001 volkswagen beetle?

IT'S A BIT MORE COMPLICATED THAN ABOVE.
TO REMOVE BRAKE LIGHT HOUSING YOU HAVE TO GO INTO THE TRUNK AND REMOVE AN OVAL PLASTIC COVER NEAR WHERE THE TAIL LIGHT IS. REACH IN AND FEEL FOR A KNOB (FEELS LIKE AN OUTDOOR SPIGOT KNOB). TURN IT UNTIL IT COMES OFF. REMOVE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT CASING. YOU'LL BE ABLE TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE HOUSING BY PUSHING FROM INSIDE OUT. DISCONNECT THE WIRE. CHANGE BULB, REVERSE PROCEDURE.
GOOD LUCK.

How do you gain access to brake/tail lamp on 2007 VW Beetle?

Open the rear hatch, look inside left or right and theres a small cover, remove and inside will be a small knob, unscrew completely, get a taped flat blade screw driver or a plastic interior tool and go around the outside of the light assembly and gently pry outward......bulbs on inside.......good luck

I cant get the tail light out to change the bulb

No tools needed.

Beetles: Round plug inside trunk pops out.
Beetle Convts: Grille-looking rectangular panel pops out.

Reach in and you'll feel a large finger-grip able nut, back it off (DON'T DROP
IT) and place it somewhere retrievable. Take a small-flat-bladed screwdriver and wrap it in cloth so you don't scratch the paint. Poke said protected blade between the inside body joint and the tail light, gently pry tail light out. Remove offending bulb, replace with new. Installation is, as they say, the reverse of removal.

How to replace rear turn signal bulbs?

Remove trim panel inside trunk. A plastic nut retains tail light assembly in body. Remove the bolt, slide whole tail light from body, disconnect the wires, twist bulb socket to access bulbs.

Bulb replacement

Look inside the trunk for the back side of the light module housing. Unscrew the large black knob. Before unscrewing it all the way push on the knob to pop out the light module housing from the outside fender, or place your fingers under the lip and gently pull on the housing once the knob is removed. Once pulled out of the housing the bulb sockets will be visible outside of the trunk. replace the l;amps and reverse the procedure to put the light module back into the socket. Screw back on the black knob.

The front lights are similar but have tension springs instead of knobs.

Tail light in a volkswagon beetle?

There are two access panels on either side of your trunk. You need to remove the panel and inside you will find a small plastic 3 point finger nut that you will have to loosen to allow the light assembly to be removed - be careful not too loose the plastic nut!. You can then replace the bulb(s) you need.
