1 Answer

!990 ford e-350, 351 motor. Motor fully tuned and old plugs were dry and tan in color.Problem is that at any given moment the motor will stall..mainly when the rpms come down due to stopping at a light and the only way it will restart is if i hold the peddle to the floor and i have to wait a bit before putting it in gear or else it will stall again. It might happen at times and then all of a sudden, it dies ! Thankx

TRY CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY.
THE IDLE AIR CONTROL COULD BE STICKING
JUST READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE CAN OF THROTTLE BODY CLEANER.
AND SOME INJECTIOR CLEANER WON'T HURT.

DTC P0302: Cylinder 2 misfire detected. Probable cause:
1. Check for latest control unit software update

3. Faulty fuel injector
4. Ignition system fault. Check ignition module, coil, spark plugs and wires even if these are new replacements
5. Fuel system problem

Oil a tan waterly color

Tan color... or creamy color is kind of a bad thing... But, before I panicked, I would change the oil and filter and start from a new beginning.... IF, after running it for a day or two, you again have a problem, you are somehow getting water or engine coolant into your motor oil.. and that can happen several different ways..... and most of the ways are "bad"... Good luck...

How to do a tune up 2004 lincoln navigator

Tune-ups have been gone for most of the last 25 years or more

Your vehicle only has spark plug left from those days

Remove the COP Ignition Coils & replace the plugs
using the champion one piece ones

Go to google & see all the problems with your motor
& the OEM two piece spark plugs

They needed to come out of the motor the day it was sold
brand new,read up on that

1986 Ford F150 6cyl, carb., spark good, fuel in throttle, dry spark plugs,...what is problem? Just swapped motors, but same everything except 85 motor.

Because there is no fuel to the plugs I would pull the 02 senor out of the tailpipe and see if the catalytic converter or muffler is plugged. If they are they put back pressure on the engine and not allow the fuel to be drawn into the cylinder and fire.

1986 olds 307 timing

Hi Too Fast 442!

The factory manual states:

1.on the 5.0L VIN (_F_) put EST into by-pass mode by unplugging "set timing" timing connector. Connector is a Tan/Black wire in the harness near the distributer. Set timing and reconnect "set timing" connector.

2. on the 5.0L VIN (_G&H_)
Unplug 4-wire connector at distributor. Set timing and plug in 4-wire connector.

3. on the 5.0L VIN (_Y_) the tune-up decal states to ground C-3*** diagnostic lead. Set timing then remove ground from C-3 diagnostic lead.

*** The location of the C-3 diagnostic lead seems to be a mystery, but I've been told that jumpering the A & B pins on the OBD connector (under dash) will accomplish the same purpose.

Disconnecting the ECM (4-wire connection at distributor) is generally a universal given for that era 307.

I used to have a shop where trick Olds motors were one of my specialties, and I love 'em. I built high performance 350s, 403s, 425s and 455s. An interesting fact is that ALL Olds V-8s share the same engine mounts, and big block motors are only 1/2 inch wider than small blocks... That means that you can fit any Olds motor where your 307 now resides.

I have tuned and rebuilt carbs on several 442 307s, and if attention to detail is observed, they run great!

Hope this is illuminating, good luck, and let us know if you have other questions or comments.

Thanks!
WildBill
