If the fluid is leaking at the wheel, you're going to have to replace the wheel cyllinder. When it leaks brake fluid, it causes your brakes to stick, or,"lock up", as you said. Get a new wheel cylinder, install it, and clean the sytem with brake cleaner, and you should be fine.

By the sounds of it the calipor over extended, which means you need some brake work, if it did go that far, i would replace the calipor pads and rotor, that is what i would do, that is the only thing that stops the car and that is a good reason to do things that right way.

Hi, there must be a leak. Have you checked the rear wheel slave cylinders? These can leak onto the rim and the fluid get slung out on the road without ever creating a puddle.

98 ford windstar/ power steering pump changed twice as of this week/ makes a loud whinning noise /can'tn keep fulid it, lines have been changed, no visiablem leaks,

Either you have air in the system cuasing the pump to " cavitate" or not enough fluid or the wrong fluid.
Are these pumps you put in new, used or re-built ?
Fluid HAS to be going somewhere.

1999 windstar power steering makes buzzing noise when warming up.

drain all power steering fluid and replace with dextronIII/mercon transmission fluid start the vehicle and turn the wheel back and forth from lock to lock bouncing the wheel against the lock about 5 times on each turn for about 5 minutes
if this doesnt work you are probablygoing to need a new power steering pump

My power steering fluid is black in my 98 windstar can anyone tell me what my problem can be??? power steering was making a funny noise when i checked the fluid it was very low and black i didnt see any...

You ran it low so It made the noises which was burning the fluid. Just add some more fluid. It should stop making noises but if it does you may have ran it too long without enough fluid

Having problem's with my 98 Ford Windstar

Check  transmission fluid level first. Make note if the fluid color is dark brown and smells burnt you probably have a serious problem. If fluid is full, you probably have pump failure. Trans will need to be overhauled or replaced.

Steering problems

the windstar is very common for leaking powersteering racks, one way to check is to squeeze the boot that goes over the inner tierod and onto the steering rack, if it is squishy you will require a new steering rack
