Question about 1998 Oldsmobile Regency
I have a 1998 oldsmobile regency and when I am stopped at a red light and take off it dies alot of times when the car is in low gear when it shifts into second or third it shifts really hard. I took it to auto zone and one of the workers plugged something up to it to see why check engine light was on and it set off one code and that code said I have a defective gas cap, or there was a vacuum leak to the engine.
Sounds like you have a severe vacuum leak. Poor vacuum will cause the trans to shift hard, very hard, and will also cause driveability concerns. Check all of your vacuum lines make sure they are intact, and not broken or leaking, and replace any that look questionable.
