Question about 1984 Ford F 150

I have a 1984 f-150 with a 302 v-8 that runs extremely rough until after about 20 minuets of driving when its cold outside. When its warm out it runs great.

Vortec? They have a problem with the intake gaskets leaking when engine is cold and runs fine when engine warms up.

Could be the fast idle sensor check to see that the vacume line is hooked up properly.

Get the fuel pressure checked. Put a scanner on it to check for codes and look at data. Its all a guess if you skip these two procedures. Like you already stated, you guesed and you guessed wrong,. You cant work on cars and trucks these days without the proper diagnostic equipment unless your extremely lucky

Mine did the same thing at 16K miles, I cleaned the throttle body and the ploblem went away. Took me about 30 minutes.

When car is cold it seemingly runs on 3 cylinders


seem like you got the same problem as my scion xa, check the fuel pressure regulater. bad regulater some time smell like leak gas. auto zone might cause you about $80.00.

Transmission slipping in all gears.


4 wheel drive vehicles are desigined to run with equal size tyres front and back, if not severe stress is placed on the drivetrain, The transmission will most likely need overhaul, biut do not be surprised if you have transfer box faults and diff faults as well. Find a good transmission tech and get a quote.
