This is common problem with some GM vehicles. I would go to the dealer and see if they can help you even if it is out of warranty. Your vehicle only has 24,647 miles so it is obvious there was a manufacturing defect. They may repair it out of warranty as a courtesy to you. It is done all the time. Honda just replaced the radio in my car that was out of warranty at no charge. Be pleasant and ask for help. If the dealer refuses then ask for the phone # of the district manager. Call them and if they refuse then you have no choice but to have it repaired and pay of it. Just make sure you tell them this is the last GM vehicle you will ever buy. Immediately get rid of this vehicle as you will have this problem again.

Are you sure your warranty is up on this? Cause a head gasket should fall in the power train category, which has a longer warranty past the bumper to bumper warranty. I know with honda it is 5 years 60,000 miles on power train. I'm not sure what Chevy is though. If I were you though I would look into this. You might still be covered under power train warranty.

This is normal (for a cheaply made Chinese engine). Try pressing the accelerator to the floor once or twice, let off and then start the engine. Be more concerned about the Lower Intake Manifold and Head Gaskets. My 2005 Equinox just blew one or the other yesterday at 109,000 well maintained and always babied miles. The estimate to replace the head gaskets was "about $2000.00." Good luck!

It sounds like you have a blown head gasket. Antifreeze is leaking into the cylinders after you shut it off. You need to get this fixed right away because this can lead to severe engine damage to the point that the entire engine will have to be replaced.

possible blown head gasket. Put in gear with your foot on the brake and rev up to see if there is vapor coming out the exhaust. Also remove radiator cap and run engine to see if bubbles come out of the radiator. Either of these would indicate a blown head gasket or possibly a cracked head.

My Equinox has less than 36,000 miles and has a blown head gasket. We know this because of hose pressure and water on the oil fill cap. What would make this happen? Is this common with the 3400?

A blown headgasket isnt what you have, unless its been overheated. You have bad intake manifold gaskets, have them replaced before you ruin the engine bearings. VERY COMMON
