How can he forget? two different size post (terminals) on the solenoid ,one large & one small . It should be self explanatory. What relay switch ? No relay for the starter on that vehicle. Your best, have a qualified repair shop check it.

Unlike the old days, swapping engines from year to year is a science. 2000 cavalier had 2 different engines (2.2 2.4) with different control systems. You must make sure that the replacement engine is the same by checking the 8th digit in the serial number and then the internal components may be different and not compatible with with the new sensors and computer controls. Your local wrecking / salvage yard will be able to help you find what you need.
You can't change the intakes on it. The 1995 throttle body and the efi that they used on the 96 up are totally differant. In 1996 when they went to the vortec motors they changed the heads. the 96 up only have 8 bolts to bolt the intake to the motor and are totally differant angles on the bolt holes. the 87-95 centerbolt head motors had 12 bolts to hold the intake down. Also the 96 should be odb 2 by government compliance. 95 was a split year but 96 up should be odb 2. If you do a search online you should be able to find the new injector or alot of time you can just get the poppets.Either way in the long run you will be better off fixing what is the rather than trying to convert.
1st thing to do is dump a can of motor flush in the crank case. follow directions on can. replace with full synthethic motor oil. Valvoline reccomended. 5w30. change fuel filter, sparkplugs and wires, valve cover gasket (probaly dry rotted.) replace pvc valve. should be good to go after that. cost estimate $ 60 hope this helps.
There is really no difference between a blown or cracked head gasket. In either case the gasket would have to be replaced. Generally the term "cracked" is used when referring specifically to the cylinder head/s its/them selves. If the cylinder head is cracked it is a much more expensive repair.
i think it might also be a head, you could be leaking coolant which would make it hot and over work the alternator. i changed the head on my cavalier and my head gasket. after that, my problem was fixed
Not the difference shoulD NOT be more than 10psi and some may say 20 psi. I SAY 10psi between each cylinder if this is 50 psi difference then you have at least a head gasket problem. But when you remove head have it check by a machine shop for cracks and warpage in head. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA.
