Question about 1997 GMC Sierra
I (may) need to replace the #4 fuel injector. Please describe procedure and advise of anything to watch out for.Plus, any advise for easy tests to verify that this is the problem? It is missing on #4 according to garage that checked codes.
I do not know witch engine you have, but ,I imagine shop checked the coil, wire ,and plug,,look for a valve, with a valve core in it,and depress the core to relieve the fuel pressure before you start. There will be bolts in the fuel rail, holding the fuel rail to the intake.Remove these bolts, all of them.To remove the one injector, you need to remove all,at the same time,Do not remove the injectors from the rail.Pry gently between the injector, and the intake with a pry bar,and twist and turn on the injector to remove. When you go to replace the one, just remove the c-clip and remove from the rail, that you have removed already.Install in opposite, replace all the o rings on all the injectors, between the intake and injector, and use vasoline on the outside of the o ring,to help with the reinstall. You will have to twist and puss on the injectors to put them back in the intake.
