What stereo did you use as a replacement? If you used a aftermarket (kenwood, sony, etc) cd player, you need to use the proper adapter harness. These cars have a build in theft deterrent system that involves the stereo. So, when you replace the stereo, a component of your anti theft system is missing. The use of the harness gets around this feature somehow, and allows you to use aftermarket CD players. Also, ensure that no wires are getting pinched behind the stereo, and that all your connections are soldered and shrink wrapped to avoid any future problems. should go to any local junkyard to get the stock harness, or you can decipher and splice each vehicle wire to the appropriate wire on the stereo. If it was me, i'd go the junkyard route, much easier in the long run.
Replace the CD player. To pull the plastic baffle off the dashboard: Adjust the heating vents so they point downwards. Grab the plastic bar between the heating vents and the stereo. Pull.
Remove the screws from the front of the mounting brackets. Pull out the crappy stereo. Unplug the antenna and the wiring harnesses. Transfer the mounting brackets to your new stereo. Cut off the big wiring harness (unless you're lucky enough to have a replacement stereo that accepts the same kind). Connect the wires to the wires on your new stereo's harness.

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle.
