The battery is being drained by some electrical equipment or componant...
remove one of the battery cables onthe terminal and thn try to rub it on the terminal and see if the sparks are there and if they are heavy.
If youdo find heavy sparks ..tht proves tht somewhere in the electricals something is 'on' when it should not be so.
Hope this helps!

Hi:
Since you tested your battery and alternator, and assume they are both good, all that is left to cause your problem is a current draw when the car is off. You can check this by getting an amp meter and taking one terminal off of your battery. You can measure how much current is drawn, with your car off. You should have a few milliamps on a normal car, for things such as the keep alive feature of the clock or radio, etc..but not much else. If you have quite a bit of current, you can figure out where it is coming from, by pulling one fuse at a time to see when it goes away. Sometimes even an alternator will draw current thru the voltage regulator , or a bad diode, so don't over look that possiblity

1996 Saturn sl2 speedometer acting weird rpm and gas gauge working no mph dead battery or alternator lights go very dim can't even see brake lights or turning signals

I wouldn't focus to much on the individual symptoms, when a battery goes bad, weird things happen. It is either a bad battery, a bad alternator or both. Possibly something was left on and drained the battery? If available, recharge the battery with a battery charger and limp it on down to the parts store. They can test for a bad battery and or bad alternator. Hope this helps.

Don't take the alternator of and have it tested. You need to test the alternator on the vehicle. This will let you know if the charging system is working as a whole. The alternator must have a signal to charge the battery. In the trunk with the battery wires, there is a smaller write cunning post of the main wiring. Make sure it isn't damaged. Make sure your negative cable in the trunk is properly connected to the body. If these are good, you need to take this vehicle to a reputable mechanic for further diagnosis.

Battery is dead.

Jumpstart the car to get it cranked. While the car is running, check the voltage at the alternator with a multimeter. If the voltage is 12V or lower then your alternator is bad. If the voltage is 13V-14.5V then your alternator is good and your battery is bad.

Dead battery, replaced battery and alternator but still no charge!

if its not charging while running at14.5 volts or so you have a charging problem mabey no power to the alternator if its charging at 14.5 or so and the batery load tests good and its going dead over night you have a draw from some component in the system.

I would say your on the right track. testing the alternator the way you did is proof that your charging system is up to par. was the battery checked after you had been driving the car? because if this is the case, the alternator may have charged it to the point that the battery tester could have been fooled into thinking that it was ok when in fact the battery may have a bad cell which would cause the car to pull more juice than the battery can provide on a cold start. if its possible try taking the battery out of the car after a night of sitting and have it tested this may give you a more accurate test result. if it will jump its not dead yet but, it may not be 100% either. i hope this helps

Battery draining when off. We have recharged battery 3 times. Have tested the battery it is good. After the recharge it is dead.

It is quite likely to be a faulty diode within your alternator. This can easily be checked by disconnecting your alternator, then leaving the car stood overnight with a freshley charged battery.
If the battery holds its charge, replace the alternator.

My 1998 isuzu will get jump started but wont hold the charge i thought after it runs for a couple of mins it should recharge it self wats wrong snl

If the battery is bad it will not hold a charge. Have your battery checked a the local parts house or your mechanic. Also have the charging and starting systems checked to insure they are working properly. Battery should have a reading of about 12.8 volts, alternator should be putting out between 13 and 14 volts. Starter should not draw to many amps.

2008 toyota avalon dead batery

There sounds to be a problem with your alternator. If the car went dead every few hours or week I'd say its the battery. But if the car lasts 3 months between problems, then you're battery is a champ despite fighting a losing battle.  Do you ever take long trips that coincide with this problem? If your battery isn't recharging then it could drain to dead on a longer trip.  There could also be an electrical problem like a bad ground that only shorts bad every once in a while. Read the voltage when the battery is connected to the car with everything off and then again when the battery is disconnected from the car. Also, have you had the alternator checked? Have you inspected the engine for bad grounds? Have you tried buying one of those battery saver devices? Hope this helps.
