How to remove power window motor

Some motors are pop riveted to the door panel. With the window up remove the the arm rest screws then remove the screws hidden by the arm rest. Next use a special tool to pop off the upholstered door panel unplug the wire harness for the windows, door locks and seat controls pull off the plastic vapor barrier. Now locate the motor and look for the mount screws. If you can't see them then look for the pop rivets that hold the motor on. Before you drill out the rivets make sure you have the correct replacement rivets and the tool to install them. Once you have all that then drill out the rivets carefully. unplug the wires to the motor and pull it out of the door.

SOMETHING POPPED IN THE DRIVERS DOOR AND NOW THE WINDOW WILL NOT GO UP

Vehicles: Any with the above symptoms.

The small popping noise was some component in the Window Operator Mechanism breaking - the cable may have snapped, a plastic pulley may have broken, a plastic cable guide may have broken - it could be anything.

The reason you can't see the Window Operator Motor or the track is that it is behind the moisture barrier - remove it by carefully peeling it back at the edges of the door frame (so that it can be re-adhered back to the same door frame location without adding adhesive/sealant).

When you get to the Operator, be prepared to have to drill out some number of aluminum rivets to remove the OEM Operator, and, when installing the new Window Operator Mechanism, you'll have to replace these rivets with your own Pop Rivets, or they can be replaced with small hardware store nuts/bolts/washers (mechanics choice). Have an assortment of both ready before you attempt your Window Operator Mechanism replacement.

If the broken component of your Driver's Door Window Operator Mechanism is actually a missing/broken rivet, then replacing that would fix the Window.
But these rivets hardly ever fail - what fails is plastic components in the Window Operator Mechanism.

Window lift motor has gone out... have the new one but there is not manual to show how to replace it

O.k. this is how you do it. First remove your inside door panel. After you have the door panel removed you will see a layer of plastic that you will have to either pull off or cut. After you pull the plastic off of the door you should see the window motor. Now when you look at the motor take note as to whether the window it connected to the window regulator with bolts or with rivets. It your motor is connected with bolts simply unplug the motor take out the 3 bolts and remove the motor. Then you replace the motor the same way you took it off. Now if your window motor is riveted in you will need to drill out the rivets. In order to do that you will need an electric drill and a drill bit that is just a little larger then the rivet head. After you get the rivets out you will have to replace them with nuts and bolt. I hope this helps you out. Replacing a window motor is fairly easy, and I know you do fine. Good luck and best wishes.

I have a window replacement motor but I just need to see a driver motor diagram. Where can i find this online/ free if available

The motor is riveted on the window regulator. Drilling out the rivets is the only way to remove. Diagrams maybe found on the web but after looking for 15 minutes I did not find one for you. The best way to remove the motor is to remove the glass first then the regulator itself. Then drill the rivets out. Reverse this proceedure to install

Front left window lift cable strand broken. will not lift window how do i fix it

remove the interior trim panel to gain access to the inside of the door.
you will have to replace the whole mechanism as you cant buy just the cable.
you should be able to use the electric motor off the one that is in the car now
you also may have to use a drill to remove the pop rivets holding the mechanism onto the door if it is attached that way, mine was, I used bolts with nylock nuts to re attach the winder as I could not locate a place that sold that size pop rivet
hope this helps

How do I replace the window power motor in my 1988 lincoln town car, I can see four rivets holding the regulator and motor in place, is there an easier way other than drilling out the rivets, looks like...

Most cars American-Made at least, used rivets to hold the mechanism in place. The only way to remove and replace the motor is to drill out the rivets. You can either re-install the new motor with new rivets or most new power window motors come with sheet metal screws included to re-attach the motor to the inside door frame. Either way both methods are very secure and you should have no problems with it not being secure.

I have a 1997 ford f150 and cant figure out how to get the window motor out... i took the door skin off and it looks like its been rivited? i need to know how to take it out and replace it?

It's common for these to be riveted. You'll need to drill out the rivets, and, on the new motor, use either screws or pop rivets to reattach (do you have a pop rivet gun?).

Replace window regulator

Before you go and replace the regulator you should use a 12 volt tester to see if your getting power to the Motor first . if your not check the switch next if there is power there look at the door jam for broken wires this is a common problem. if the motor needs replaced then tape the window in the up position , Drill out the rivets and remove the power wire and the the motor the replacement motor will come with bolt nuts and washers , if not you will need a rivet gun for the replacment rivets . just revers your steps to install. remember when working on any type of power units always disconnect the ground terminal on the battery.(Black) lead to the battery, Good Luck !

Replacing electric window Motor 2000 Pontiac Sunfire

The glass has to be taken out first. 2 X 10 MM nuts. Knock out rivet centers and drill out rivets. It will come out the port in the door. Reverse procedure and you will be done.
