TROULBE CODE PO442 SMALL LEAK DETECTED HOW DO FIX OR REPLACE CANISTER

means there somthing is leaking pressure between the leak detection pump and the purge valve. first i would check all vacuum and purge lines between fuel tank vent line and purge valve on engine. this means all lines in the evap system. just to rule it out, make sure gas cap is good and tight,clear codes and drive vehicle.a bad or loose gas cap can cause that fault to occur.

Location of sensor for troubleshooting po442 to cause check engine light to come on

P0442 OBD-II Trouble Code - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

What does that mean?
This indicates a fuel vapor leak in the EVAP control system. It means a very small leak has been detected. In fact, the leak can be from a hole as small as 0.04" in diameter. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

Symptoms
You likely won't notice any drivability problems.

Causes
A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
* A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
* A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
* A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
* Other small leak in EVAP system
* Faulty vent o-ring seal

Possible Solutions
With a P0442, the most common repair is to:
* Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
* Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
* Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

2000 Caravan,error codes po135, po403, po442, po455 What do I need to check/change?

The error code P0135 ,this error code is related to O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1).It would be a upsteam o2 sensor.The upstream one which is mounted on the exhaust manifold. The sensors is located in the back of the engine on the exhaust pipe. You must have a O2 sensor socket to replace it because of where it is located. You can borrow one of these from Autozone.The sensorlooks like a sparkplug with 2 wires coming out the top of it. The error code P0403 , this error is related to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Malfunction. For the details about this error i suggest you to click the link shown below. The link :--- http://www.obd-codes.com/p0403 ------------- The error code P0442 ,this error is related to leak in the Vaporative Emissions or EVAP system. Common problem. Few places to check - rubber hose under air box (requires removing the airbox) and hoses connecting to evap system under the van on the drivers side. -------------- The error code P0445 .This error indicates Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted.Try replacing the gas cap.If its loose then tight the gas cap and check. The charcoal canister stores gas fumes from the gas tank. Every so often, the computer commands a "purge valve" to open up and draw fresh air through the canister to remove the gas fumes. The engine sucks those fumes into the intake manifold and burns them.The purge valve is an electric solenoid valve. Actually, there are two of these valves--one is the purge valve that opens the vacuum line between the canister and the intake, the other is a vent valve that opens the canister to take in fresh air. The computer monitors the voltage on the lines to the valves and watches for a voltage drop when it commands the valves to open. If it doesn't see that drop, it stores a code. ---------------- This are the details of the error codes mentioned by you.The mentioned parts has to be checked and replaced to clear up the problem. -------Thanks.helptech.

Check engine light code PO442

You likely won't notice any drivability problems. P0442 indicates a fuel vapor leak in the EVAP control system.

With a P0442, the most common repair is to Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses.

Good luck and hope this helps
