I can't unlock the hubcap to change the tire

My Delta 88 (oldsmobile) has a special lock on the wheel that requires a matching key to remove the hubcap to change the tire. Problem is, when I got the car, the "key" was not with it. I now have a flat and no way to remove the hubcap. Any suggestions?

Take a picture of the lug nut and go to the auto parts store to buy the key that fits the lug nut.  You may have to purchase the whole kit with the key, but at least you will always have spare lug nuts.  Alternative is to show the picture to the locksmith shop and see if they have any suggestions.  Poor boy fix is to go to Sears and purchase their Lug Nut breaker to remove the nut and install a regular one.

How do you replace a sending unit on a 85 Delta 88???..asap!!

If you are reffering to the fuel tank sending unit, the fuel tank will have to be removed for access. Once removed, you can remove the sending unit by removing the lock ring securing it to the tank. Depending on rust/corrossion, the lock ring may require some patience to remove. Once the ring is removed the unit pull right out of the tank

How do you unlock the steering wheel without the keys ? so the car can be toed?

There might be a metal steering wheel lock release button under the dash in the steering column. but im not for sure on that. if you cant release it just get a flatbed tow truck. they will still be able to tow it.

We have a 1991 Olds Delta 88 and the emergency break engages itself. What could be wrong and how do we fix it. Tiffany

this car has a cable system, and if the cable is loos, then its going to have to be repaired in the drum brakes in the rear. pull the wheels in the rear off as well as the drum covers. the cable adjusters are in the lower back of the drum close to the axel. here you will find some levers and springs. most likely these will need repklaceing and/or lubed.

Ignition broke ... do I have to pull steering column off.... if no, why can't I get it out? when it first broke, the ignition swung freely, then jammed and the gears wouldn't change. Had to drop the...

You have to pull the steering wheel to get to the lock assembly. This requires a special tool to compress the spring so the retaining clip can be removed. You can do it with that tool if you're mechanically inclined. Go to the library and get the procedure from a Chilton or Motor's manual. Parts stores sell Haynes books too.

My hub caps wont come off..

Determine how the hubcaps are attached. Some simply push on, others have a small screw holding them on, and a few won't come off unless you take the lug nuts off.
Depending on what type of hubcap your car has, either unscrew the screw that holds the hubcap on, or with a large screwdriver or a pry bar, pry the hubcap off the wheel.
place a new hubcap on the wheel.
Strike the edge lightly with a rubber mallet and work around the rim of the hubcap with the mallet until it's seated, or screw the screw back in.
Repeat for each hubcap.

Rubber hubcap bolt has been stripped!

I'd take it to a independent local tire dealer (not a brand name dealer for instance) and ask them for assistance...should be cheap.
Good Luck
