hi from uk assume you have checked oil level?? also when did you last have oil and filter changed? if this problem was just oil light on then it woul /may be a simple oil pressur switch gone defect? however! the fact you mention engine obviously sound noisy now/sounds as if no oil pressure you say ? i would strongly advise not starting/running engine untill you consult garage for oil pressure test which will give a correct diagnosis of what may be wrong but do check oil level is ok 1st !it should be to full mark as too low it wll cause even lower level when engine starts and pumps oil thro the engine resulting in too low a level of oil for oil pump to pick up hope you understand wish you good luck

Change the oil and filter first. If its still sounds bad then have the oil pressure checked at a garage before you do any damage. If its not making any rattling noises then try changing the oil pressure switch.

What are common causes for engine oil being burned under the hood but the leak is out of line of sight?

It very well may be comeing from under the engine, sounds like there is an oil leak that only leaks under presure and is leaking on to the hot exhast.

What maintenance should be done on a 2006 Toyota Corolla with 74,000 mil on it--due for a reugular oil change. What about belts and hoses?

The owners manual gives recomended things to look for every 3k-5k miles. Generally though, major services are done at 30k, 60k, and 90k miles and oil and filters are done with an inspection of belts, hoses, tires, brakes, and fluids at the oil changes, with filters changed as needeed at that time. I would recomend changing the brake fluid out, flush the cooling system, and giving it a good look over since it's 5years old, then you'll be good till your 90k service / inspection. Change your oil every 3-4k miles, check your tires once a week when you get gas. Your timing belt may be coming up for replacing also, but look at the manual. You may not need to do that till 100k miles. When it does come time though, I'd change the idlers / bearings and the tentioner while it's apart, that way all the spinning parts will be new. If the water pump is in there also, and it has'nt been done yet, I'd do it too. You don't want a coolant leak 3-6 months later after all the other work was done. Save up now for it and you won't be hit with a shocker bill when you get the work done. Plan on 2 days and about $1200.00 for parts and labor.

Oil pressure light went on on my 2000 audi a4 1,8t. What should i do?

could be sender or pump. do not run the engine until you're sure you have a good pump. Does it blink on and off--coming on mainly at idle? This would be normal for an old engine. If it stays on and the pump is bad, you will ruin your engine. You can try replacing the sending uniot, as that is cheap compared to the pump, but don't run it long to check new sender. If new sender stays red, shut down and replace pump.

Last night my sebring stalled out of nowhere and then the check engine light along with the oil pressure light appeared. There was no unusual knocking sounds or anything. I keep the oil changed and up to...

Get it scanned for the check engine light, (mil light), as for the oil light, thats normal due to engine not running and making no oil pressure. was this a sudden stall, with no engine surging, then I suppect a failed cam or crank sensor. if it kind of stalled with engine surge and hesatation, I suspect fuel related, possible fuel pump. 2.4L, 2.7L engine have same sensor issues and ideas. if you need more info, just reply back with the mil code, I will walk you through this problem.

Change the oil sending unit to see if the sending unit is at fault,if this does not fix the problem, then the main, and rod bearings in the engine are worn.

Oil presure light comes on after driving 15 min. only when i stop. this just started after i gave it a rutine oil change. when ii turn the heater on it stops coming on .

After making sure that you used the propper oil filter and the correct grade of oil. inspect the Oil presure switch. if you see it wet with oil, replace it. given that you hear no internal engine noises, while you come to a stop and the light comes on. Then more that likely you have the wrong filter. please doubble check your oil level, 2.. Hope this helps
