Sounds like a bad brake switch...should just be connected to the brake pedal under the dash...crawl under there and see a white box, with a plunger hanging out of it resting against the brake pedal...unbolt/remove it, unplug it, and replace it...you cannot rebuild one of these, nor can you reinstall an old one after removing it for any reason..

Brake lights will not go off in dodge intrepid

It seems like you may have a bad Brake Light Switch, which is located on your Brake Pedal. The switch is activated when you step on the brakes it sends a signal to the Brake Lights to turn the lights on when the pedal is depressed, if it is defective it may be keeping the Brake Lights on. You can purchase on and replace it yourself, it is not very difficult.

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid es 3.2 my brake lights stopped working, i changed the bulbs, and the brake pedal switch i checked the fuses? am i missing something?

I had 1990 Dodge Shadow that had the brake lights go out too. The problem was the cheap way that the bulb holder was made. I had to solder a wire to the outside metal case for the lights to work. If you know a bit about batteries and voltages, check that the bulb contacts are getting voltage, and that the wires are in tact all the way to the bulb.
