Sounds like the shifting linkage is slipping on the gear selecting shaft on the tranny. With the van off and wheels blocked, get under van and have somebody move the shifting lever and see if it is slipping, there should be a bolt to tighten it, if the bolt didn't come off. If that is the problem, make sure the shifting lever is in drive when you tighten the bolt cause that's where it got stuck.

This sounds like the linkage that connects the shifter to the transmission has come apart or broken. Have a good look at this less expensive fix before you pin it on that very expensive transmission. Hope this helps. Good luck.

That looks to me like the rev limiter. I usually see that at 4,000 rpm but it seems like its working great. It should only limit like that in park or neutral. Does it also do that in drive? It shoul go to about six or seven thousand in drive when you out it to the floor.

The wheels turning opposite is normal. It's how the differential works. You need to get the transmission checked out by a qualified tranny person.

I have 2000 V8 LS thatruns rough in park and at idle in drive.

That is normal.
If you rev it in park it will not rev over 3500 rpm before it hits the rev limiter.
