Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement Headlamp 60/55W H13
  1. Open the hood and find the front headlamp assembly.
  2. Depress the black tap holding the harness connector to the headlamp assembly. Pull the connector toward you to remove it.
  3. Turn the bulb assembly counterclockwise and remove the headlamp from the car.
  4. Check the new bulb against the old bulb for an exact match. The wattage and rating should be the same or the headlamp may not work correctly and could damage the vehicle.
  5. Insert the new bulb into the assembly and turn clockwise.
  6. Reconnect the harness connector by firmly reinserting it into the back of the assembly.
  7. Turn on the headlamps to check the alignment of the replaced bulb.
Tips & Warnings
  1. Vehicle headlamps can get extremely hot, make sure the lights are off for a significant amount of time before touching them.
  2. Halogen bulbs shatter easily, so handle with care

Headlight unit replacement

Purchasing an Eclipse manual would be a benefit in your case. They are relatively cheap at any parts store or even the library. This will help you to know exactly what to remove and how to remove the parts to get to the mounting bolts. There are several ways manufacturers allow access to these items. From under hood, under fender, by removing grill. Usually they are under the hood and will be in a series of identical screws or bolts pointing in the same direction as the headlight assembly.

Where is the location of the horn on a 1998 chevy cavalier

I believe the horn is located behind the passenger side headlight assembly. There is a pocket in that area where it is mounted. To gain access you will have to remove the headlight assembly. There is a shroud/cover that goes the whole length under the hood, there is a series of plastic fasteners that hold that cover in place. You will need to pop up center of fastener then the whole fastener will come out. There should be two 12 or 13 mm bolts that hold the headlight assembly to the vehicle. The side marker is part of that assembly I believe. If it is not, there is a tab that helps hold the side marker and headlight assembly together. After you remove the assembly the horn should be visible. Good luck.

How do I change the headlight on a 1998 vw Beetle?

Lift the hood and if equipped remove plastic engine cover. On each headlight you will see plastic retaining latches. releasing these latches will allow the whole headlight assembly to slide out. Its a canister type assembly. You can then access teh bulbs to replace the lights. it reassembles teh same way

How to replace 1998 Ford Contour headlights (with diagram)

Step 1
Remove your Contour's front grille. You can do this by raising the hood and removing two screws that are located on top of the grille.

Step 2 Remove the headlight assembly. The headlight assembly is held into the front of your Contour by three screws. Two screws will be located on top of the assembly, and one on the bottom.

Step 3 Replace the headlight assembly, if necessary. If you are only changing individual bulbs, make sure you replace the correct bulbs. Each assembly holds three light bulbs, including the bright, dim and turn signal bulbs.

Step4 Replace the headlight assembly and reattach the three screws to hold it in place.

Step5 Replace the front grille of your Contour and the two screws that hold it onto the front of the car.

  • It is usually a good idea to replace bulbs together (in pairs). This will allow the bulbs to wear at the same rate.
  • If you choose to replace only the individual light bulbs, do not touch the new light bulbs. The contact of your skin on the bulbs will cause the light bulbs to burn out much sooner.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

you don't have to remove the whole front end, some one is yanking your chain when you lift the hood there is three mounting bolts that attach the headlight assembly to the body remove those and then you are going to want to position your hands on the top and side of the headlight giving a gentle tug there is a clip on the bottom of the headlight that is what you are trying to break free good luck let me know what happens

Headlight assembly

some cars you have to remove the bolts holding the entire assembly in place, pull it forward then you can get to the wiring harness for the actual bulb to replace it. Look for the bolts holding the assembly onto the body only, and try that.
