Circlip is hard to remove, sometimes just a ring with no lugs on it,so you cant use circlip pliers to get it out ) i had to use a dremel to make a very small gouge just in front of the circlip to get a small screwdriver under the clip to flick it out, i use a large long bolt / nut and packers to actually drag the bearing out as i dont have access to a press it comes out pretty easy, to put the new one in the hub smear a spot of grease in the hole in the hub for the bearing and the new bearing will tap in quite easyily using the old bearing as a packer in front of your mallet/hammer,

The bearing that you have in the hub needs to be pressed out and repressed back in, the clip is a retainer, make sure you remove that before you start to press the bearing out, once it is out press new one in and reinstall clip, if you take that to your local repair shop they should help you out with the press end of it.

Broken studs I have removed the studs & lremoved the bolts holding the disc also I have removed the brake caliper but there is not enough room between the hub &the disc to get the new studs in Its...

i assume this is the front wheel... you will need to remove the wheel hub completly. to do this will need to remove thhe manual or auto locking hub, these are normally either a 10mm bolt for manual hubs and an 8mm alen key for the auto's. behind that is a circlip on the axle that holds a locking ring. remove the circlip and the snout type lock ring. then will need to remove the wheel bearing lock ring, normally 2 philips screws into the bearing adjuster. then will be able to undo the wheel bearing adjuster all the way off the shaft and the hub and disc should pull off. remove the disc and then can access the wheel stud.
reccommend check out the wheel bearings while off. ensure has heeps of clean grease, refit the hub with the disc and tighten adjuster tight. then loosten it and wind in again until it just stops turning easily, this is as the adjuster starts pushing on the bearings, this is setting the freeplay of the bearings, then refit locking hub and brake caliper

Cv axle 4x4 diferencial

Make sure 2- wheel drive is selected.
Jack up the vehicle front and support on axle stands. Remove the wheel.
Remove the brake caliper. It bolts onto the hub carrier(aka knuckle) with 2 bolts from the vehicle side of the carrier so you cant see them without sticking your head into the wheel arch. Slide the caliper off the rotor and hub and hang it with a piece of wire inside the wheel arch. Dont let it hang on the pipe it is connected to. The caliper may be difficult to remove if the rotor has a ridge on its outer edge due to wear.
Remove ABS speed sensor(2 bolts to remove) behind the hub
Next comes the hub assembly. :
  • Shift on the fly:Remove 6 bolts on the cap then the cap itself. Next the snap ring/circlip and the shim behind it.(On the piece of shaft now visible) and then you can pull off the hub flange. Remove the screw on the lock washer and then the washer itself. Remove the hub nut.The hub assembly(with rotor) will now pull off the shaft. Remove inner bearing and oil seal.
  • Manual hub: Select transmission 2H and "Free" on the hub. and run the vehicle about 100 m/300 ft.Remove 6 bolts on the cap then the cap itself. Next the snap ring/circlip and the shim behind it. Remove body assembly.
Remove the bottom ball joint on the hub carrier.(Ball joint removal tool may be needed to free the ball joint. Dont go hammering it. That will damage the thread) Swing the carrier upwards and you should have just enough free space to pull the shaft from the hub carrier. If not remove the top balljoint as well. Remove the clamp/SS strip from the inner CV rubber boot. Pull the boot back on the shaft. Remove the circlip from inside the DOJ case. The shaft can now be pulled from the DOJ case.
Remember to preload the wheel bearing on reassembly. Tighten the hubnut to 29 N.m. then loosen fully. Tighten again by hand. Connect a spring scale to the wheel stud. Pulling on the scale in the direction of rotation should give a reading of 2-2.5 kg/4.4-5.5 lb(new bearing) or 1.2-1.8kg/2.6-4 lb(used bearing) when the rotor starts to move. If it does not, tighten the hub nut a littl and measure again. Repeat till the correct measurement is achieved. See diagram.

1991 geo strom front wheel bearing can not get the hub a part.

you may need to heat the hub up with a small hand torch, the heat may have fused it together a bit, and try tapping on it with a small mallet

Rear wheel bearings whining

the rear nut is unlike most japanese cars where it must be torqued t ensure the bearing isnt too tight or loose. a 30mm socket on a 1inch air gun is needed to loosen and tighten the nut. you will lso need a circlip plies and a pnematic press to push out the bearing towards the circlip end. when the old bearing is out use it on top of the ne one and press it in until you feel resistance. replace the circlip and refit hub. retighten the nut. job done
