Question about 1991 Ford Explorer

2 Answers

I have a 1991 ford explorer and when i try to start it it doesnt even make a sound. I have had the battery checked and it is good. I also checked the solenoid and it is good also. I was wondering if it would be the starter or is there possibly something else it may be ? Is there a way to check to see if its the starter or could it be a loose connection?

If the lights can come on, then yes the starter would be the next item to take a look at. If the lights and radio do not come on, then it is still a power source issue, which means some of the cables might have become worn or loose. Some of the older Fords had cables that got worn-through/snapped by the hood mechanism

1991 ford explorer will not turn over when hot

Have the battery tested and check the battery positive cable for corrosion. Also have a amperage draw test done on the starter motor, it is one of them. If it just clicks but won't start then the starter is defective in most cases. Have it properly diagnosed by a dealer before any parts are replaced to avoid unnecessary parts replacement

My 1991 ford explorer won't start it just clicks

If you turn your head lights on and they are dull, the battery is flat or dead.If not may be a starter motor issue.

Theirs a clicking noise when i try to start the car and it wont start 1991 explorer

a clicking sound usually means the battery is low.You can remove it and have it tested and then once the you get the vehicle running have your charging and starter system checked also. You can have this done for free at Auto Zone or most part stores.Hope this helps.Good luck.

It might be your anti-theft alarm system. When the car doesn't start, is there a ticking sound inside the car? If so, hit the unlock button a few times on your keyless entry remote, until the ticking stops, then try to start the car. Hopefully this helps.
