If you have a poor ground on the blower motor or very worn blower itself, it can cause the resistor to become hotter than it was designed for. Less common causes are restriction in air flow in the heater box (resistor is air cooled) or gross overcharge condition from a bad regulator.(generally this would show up in other powered components as well though)

this is an indication that the blower motor resistor is bad and needs to be replaced. the system is designed to always work on high if the resistors go bad.

I have an 03 dodge stratus when I turn my heater on it shakes really bad. anyone know what the problem could be?

Defective blower motor and also a burned out blower motor speed control resistor is likely the cause of this.

Heater blower only works on high

Your heater resistor is bad. I have had this happen several times to my vehicle. You can get a new one from Auto Zone for about 23$. The bigger problem is the motor though. The blower motor is has a resistance issue and that is why the resistor goes bad. I replaced my resistor several times before figuring it out. The new resistor will work for awhile but eventually will go bad again unless you replace the blower motor.

Heat blower motor only works on hi. why?

A bad blower motor resistor causes this. it is under the dash on the passenger side not far from the blower motor.

Sometimes my heater works n most of the time it does'nt n the heater will turn on when it wants to

Check the blower motor resistor. It is on the passengers side under the dash by the blower motor.Make sure the connectors are good and not melted. The resistors are known to go bad. Also sometimes the terminals don`t make good contact and get hot and will start to melt the connector.Hope this helps.Good luck.

My 02 Stratus heater only works on high. Any idea

Your blower resistor is bad. It controls the mutiple speeds to allow you to go from low/med/high. When it goes bad you get one speed or no speeds....It's about $20-$50 at any local auto parts store. It mounted directly to the speed switch or on the heater plenum unit on the passenger side behind the glove box....
