ground strap ? and would this do this cause? the first pump stopped, then it took two weeks before the other one stopped,so ive been running wire from fuse box to pump but this gives me no gauge and pump seems to run harder which is probably not good and fuel seems to go faster

Check tanks for balance tube between tanks If the air pressure is not allowed to equalise between tanks then the vacuum formed will not allow fuel to flow to the pump. Breathers on both tanks are a start.

I have a 1996 f150 and I had the same problem. I finally found out that the rear fuel pump is the main pump, and if it goes out then the front pump will not work either. There is a groud that both pump share on the rear cross member. If you are not getting good connection with the ground the fuel pumps will not work. Also if you replace the rear pump and it still does not work then your problem could be the fuel tank selector switch, it acts as a relay if it goes out then neither pump will work.

The inline fuel pump fuse on the passenger side firewall is good? Are you jumping it with 12 volts at the test lead or the fuse?

Fuse for fuel pump cant find

there is no fuse, there's a relay for the fuel pump. IE,, "the main relay", under the drivers side dash.

Fuel pump is not working

It is controlled by a relay inside the under hood fuse block, check to make sure the relay is good and the fuse for the pump is not burned out.

If the wiring is in order you can also try hitting the gas tank with a rubber mallet near the fuel pump with the key on and sometimes this will free them up, but is a sign that it needs to be changed.
