It is a good idea to replace the kit, and it is a matter of stripping the carb and taking note what you removed where and replacing with a new part. You should also check the spark plugs and timing. If the timing is out, the engine will also have difficulty starting.

How to prime carburetor on 1988 Toyota tercel 1bbl

Normally, you wouldn't need to do this to get the engine started. If you have a mechanical fuel pump ion the engine, just cranking the engine over should cause the pump to push gas into the carburetor. And if an electric pump, it should come on with the key in on.

But to prime, pour a small amount of gas down the throat of the carb, and crank. As the engine fires and runs, the pump should begin working and pushing fuel into the carb.

1986 dodge truck, engine runs rich

It could be a bad accelerator pump inside the carburetor. The carb would need a rebuild kit.

1994 Isuzu Pickup 2.3L carbureted motor with mechanical fuel pump lost prime

If it were just that you would be ok once the engine started.
You might have a float problem with the carb. or something in the tank.
Are you sure the pump is not pumping ?

Hi there ! I have a toyota 87model 1.6 with a carburetor problem . It does not start in the morning but i spray in some quickstart then it starts . Then its everytime after that when the engine has run .

There are a couple of things. First gaskets/rebuild the carb. Gas will drain out of the carb from bad gaskets. Your car is old... Second float sticking. Not letting enough gas in. Your car is old, this should also be a rebuild and fuel filter change on both. You can get the kit at a parts store or a carb rebuild store. not that hard to do. comes with instructions. Since and if your car runs fine after the initial start up (quick start). I wouldn't worry about cleaning the jets and ports so much.

If you can spray carb cleaner in the carb then you have either a fuel supply problem or fuel delivery problem. Check your fuel pressure and make sure it is in spec. Then check the spray in the carb spray.

My carb on my toy 86 pickup is not getting gas when I press on the pedal. the acceleartion pump seems to be pumping OK, but no gas is coming thru the line that squirts into the carberator chamber. I can...

something is clogged. Recommend rebuilding the carb. The rebuild kits usually come with instructions--enough to get you thru if you are handy. Or, you could just take the cover off the float bowl right there on the engine and see if you can find the clog. Especially check the jet(s) in the bottom of the bowl. Any more questions--let us know.

I have a 1991 GEO Tracker that's not getting gas in the carb...the gas is up to the carb but is not going in to the carb.

Disconnect the carburetor from the gas line, and rebuild it, blowing out the jets with compressed air, and adjusting the float so that it will allow gas to flow into the carburetor bowl.

Carb gas pouring out of hole on top front of carb

Sounds like the float has absorbed gasoline and can't ftoat anymore. This causes the fuel to not be shut off when float bowl is full causing the carb to flood. You will have to buy a carb kit and a float and rebuild the carb. Hope this helps.
