Question about 2006 Pontiac G6

2 Answers

There is a clicking sound that emanates from the driver side of my '05 Pontiac G6. It sounds similar to the sound an ignitor on a gas grill makes, only constantly. The noise goes away immediately when I turn the heater & a/c off (to 0), and conversely starts back up when the heater is switched back on. There are very few moments when the noise goes away on its on, but they are very short lived and far between.

This sounds like it could be your blower motor.Only the blower motor is on the passengers side of the vehicle under the dash.Try just turning off the blower motor speeds and see if it makes a difference. Also listen on the passengers side under the dash to see if it is the blower motor. If it is you will have to replace the blower motor.

Humming sound coming from the small speaker over my head ?

That "speaker looking thing" above the drivers head on the headliner is a part of the climate control system.

Here is the GM bulletin regarding it if you are running in to these issue:

Document ID# 1639237

Subject: Buzz Noise From Headliner Above Driver - keywords ac air aspirator cover fan grille HVAC interior microphone sensor speaker temperature vent vibration #PIT3511 - (03/29/2005)

Models: 2000-05 Cadillac Escalade

2002-05 Chevrolet Avalanche

2000-05 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2000-05 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:
Dealer or customer may comment that they have a buzz or vibration noise emanating from the headliner in an area that looks like microphone or a speaker.

Recommendation/Instructions:
The plastic escutcheon grill, which is round and about the size of a half dollar and located just above the driver to the left, is the interior ambient temperature sensor. The sensor is used in conjunction with the automatic HVAC (C68). On occasions, this sensor has been known to make a buzz or rattle sound. The sensor uses a small fan to pull air over the sensor. This buzz noise may be intermittent.

Although it may not be possible to alleviate all of the buzz or noise from this sensor, Engineering has found that if the sensor is installed incorrectly that it may bind and cause the fan to make a buzz noise. Remove the sensor and while doing so check for any binding. Reinstall the sensor and re-test. If the noise is still present, the sensor itself may be noisy and require replacement.

Don't know car won't start even after boosting pontiac g6

lenmercredi2, Sounds to me like the starter, the clicking sound you hear is the shaft on the starter popping out, but the shaft is not spinning. The shaft pops out and spins the flywheel to start the car, but sounds like its not working. You more than likely need a new starter, hope this helps :)

Pontiac G6 gas pedal rattle

Is this almost like a metallic buzzing sound?

Find the catalytic converter under the car it should have a shield on it. Use a broomstick with the car running and hold the shield still and have someone give it a little gas. Just move from shield to shield until you find the offending shield.

Don't touch these with your hand as they can get hot fast.

Most parts houses sell a very large hose clamp to go around these shield for about $10, they will know exactly what you are looking for.
