I have a ford falcon 2002 xr6 ute with vct tickford motorist just stoped while driving gave a miss fire I have replaced crank sensor module coil fuel pump fuel filter still wont run running very ruf

On my falcon the same thing happened changed dizzy, coil even got new spark plugs what it turned out to be was auxiliary shaft that turns the dizzy or the dizzy module if you got coil packs. You can't see down the dizzy hole because its under the inlet manifold so take photo with your phone and you might see little bits of metal The auxiliary shaft teeth on the dizzy end where worn out and folding over so it can't give the proper spark at right time so went to wreckers 20 bucks for another. ford says it can't happen but I know quite a few engines with same problem

1989 jeep grand wagoneer 360 how do i test bad crankshaft position sensor

double posted, now with 360, 5.9L V8 fact.
great.
and has no such sensor.
its a CARB car
with ICM , spark magic box. , NO ECU /PCM brain in car
there for no CKP sensors.. sorry?

if you dont know what is there, photo it and post it
so others can see what is missing or wrong, from factory day 1 build.

i google for you
rockauto shows no such part in 360
alldata.com same
hell. even the 90s the same.
see it here.
all schematics

if engine wont start. even with test fuel, check spark
see the spark section below, under ignition.

http://oljeep.com/gw/elec/GW_wiring-1990.html

the distributor has cam sensor. not crank.
it called today, CMP, cam sensor
this sensor sends signals to the ICM the ICM then makes spark
buy driving the coil,
the CMP is more like Points, simulation, and lasts near for ever.

the 89 4L has a CKP (crank sensor) and is know to fail on brand new cars. (you need to tune it to make work , back in 88/89) at flywheel.
ask me how in know./././??

360 spark
CMP >>>>> ICM>>>> COIL>>> Dizzy cap>>> spark plugs.
this is the chain of events.
the DIZZY does the ADVANCING with ICM. totally. on this car.

What could cause a1991 suzuki samurai to have no fire from a new coil?

no spark from coil directly?
is the cam turning, is the dizzy rotor spinning. ????

check all fuses first. Ig-coil, FI and dome.
then using diagnostic jumper wire or fuse, (as approp)
crank engine look for code 41 o 42.!!!

USA cars , answers only
our cars are all EFI that year.
no engine swaps to Suzuki G16A/B sidekick or tracker engines.!
1: engine cranks
2: no spark
3: The ECu makes spark
the CMP sensor in the DIzzy , (never fails if rotor turns, does rotor turn, if not cam belt igored and now snapped.)
the cam turns. the CMP fires. the ECU takes this CMP signal
and fires the ignitor next to coil and the coil charges, and release and BAM spark.

that is it.
the ECU will tell you when the CMP dies or the Ignitor fails
why not ask it.
1: key on
2: diagnostic jumper in place (flashes 12s for ok)
3: crank engine,for 5sec, not 1 ,not 2.
3: release key not off.
4: see code 41, or 42, BINGO !@!!!!

1993 Grand Cherokee Lardo runs great then it decides it does not want to start

THE JEEP ZJ ! NO ENGINE STATED, so real hard to help !!!!
cranks robustly (crank shaft actually turns, look)
and will not start.?
no engine stated, there are many , must know engine to fix them.
so did you check spark at all cylinders. ?
and timing of them.
and spark wire firing order, one guy had a friend swap them for fun.
(he had a accident later.. LOL)
if spark is hot on all 4 or 6 cylinders.
and #1 fires near zero on the pulley, then
try test fuel, spray it. runs for 3 seconds and sounds good.
that mean engine and spark are good and you lost fueling
the steps are same 1920 to now, on mr. otto cycle engines.

a 60k tune up is more.
1: spark plugs , J plugs, stock & gap'ed right.
2: spark wire. new.
3: cap and rotor.
4: air filter, and fuel filter.

when you replaced the dizzy(why?) did you read the FSM
to retime it, it times injection too.
be sad to make it worse throwing parts on top of a good dizzy

there is no reason to replace the DIZZY unless
one of these fails #42 or 54. 54 is dead dizzy Cmp sensor.
ever see this? DIAGNOSICS.
https://sites.google.com/site/thezjpage/zj-diagnostic-trouble-codes-dtc-s

got a ignition spark strobe light?, this is childs play.
check spark x6
check firing near TDC #1 , near 0 degrees. see hood spec for exact spec. (open hood ,USA, look up, see EPA, timing spec, BINGO.)
and firing order, do not cross wire to wrong plugs
do not guess at firing order or rotor direction or all this fails.
true for all cars with dizzy,
the fsm is there. no need to guess. ever

  1. if engine is good (compresson)
  2. and spark is good
  3. and not flooded, (look)
if not flooded it will run for 3 seconds, at least.
if flooded
use super secret , unflood mode, crank WOT
wide open throttle, its in the oper , guide this for all cars made, 1988 to now.

I renewd head and replaced it,but now no spark from coil after reasemlbly.

what does working mean.
1: cranks but will not start
2: runs bad.
3: spark dead.

the stock sammy engine, 1.3 has a stand alone Distributor.
it has a VR sensor + ignitor and 1 external coil.
any ign coil can be bench tested. ask.
did you do the checks in the FSM yet?

many a SAMMI have the engine swapped, this old
many are upgraded to Sidekick G16 engines, so first post what the engine is, or a photo of it for fast ID.
chapter 8 ? read that? volume 2.
pdf page 69:? coil tests.
set the VR gap right yet? page 70
vr gen resistance page 70?
page 71 , ignitor test , figures 8-16?

does rotor spin , cranking?
with a voltmeter on the negative (-) . terminal (Volts to ground test)
does the ignitor fire the coil as you crank car.
12v, 0v, 12v ,0v, repeats as you crank
if not, the Dizzy is bad, or not grounded.
or the the coil is open (primary) see page 69 again.

if the dizzy is dead. we replace the whole thing
from Cardone, for 1/2 prize of bad parts inside.
the internals are very expensive.

the distributor must be grounded well, and with varnish on these
old parts, that can fail.

the VR is a very weak signal (below 1v) that is is amplified by the
VR amp then this is a strong gating signal to the Ignitor which
is just a very powerful transistor, in reality.
you can check the ignitor output with a meter or scope of any kind
to see if it is FIRING.

if the voltage is 0v, the coil is open or the ignitor is shorted.
the latter failure, loves to burn up good coils.
if stuck at 12v, cranking, the VR/Ignitor is bad, try setting the gap
or grounding the dizzy case with a jumper wire to the battery neg lug.
that is it on old DIZZy's (distributors, unless the advance is bad....)

Where is the ignition coil located in 1992 toyota paseo?

first off, no engine sized stated not even cylinder counts.
makes this kinda hard if we dont know the engine,huh?\
NO COUNTRY either stated.... lots of variances there.

hard for you too, it seems. 1.3L or 1.5L I4?
USA used mostly , so ill pretend it's that..... here....
1.5 L 5E-FE I4 why not test for spark and if the ECU sees spark missing it CUTS FUEL, (for safety reasons) so spark is first if engine is good, see?
so you never checked for spark on an engine before.?
the where is it question, im gobsmacked, its at the other end of the wire from each spark plug, for sure, Mr. Tesla's induction coil is there.
some hide, some inside dizzy and today you get 4 or 6 on Toys.
all this is convered in the FSM (get one) or at the the virtual FSM
called,,,,,,,,,,alldata.com (google finds it 1st hit)
so ill log in for you.
looks like engine has a DISTRUTOR>
ok if true.
then the COIL is in 1 of 2 places, connected to the center
of the distributor cap, 5 terminal or inside the dizzy
keep in mind that the early 90s was a transition era. Spark !
some had dizzy others are DIS.
DIS is 4 cop coils. one coil on top of the spark plug
here is vast photos on line, of many 5E-FE engines.

in JAPAN the engine had a DIZZY
in USA it had COPS
what you have not sure.

i read in the wiki that the 5E went to cops, in 1995 (USA)
so it has a dizzy. in the 5E.
here is a new coil. for the dizzy
the dizzy has only 4 terminals on top , that fact means it makes the
high voltage by all its self and this hidden coil
see photo

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=47723&cc=1276938

now not guessing,?
we do what.? we do tests. i bet your coil is fine.
here is a test flow>
i find spark dead on all 4 spark plugs.
i then ask the ECU to tell me why its dead, 99% of times i can
so what do i do? i connect the diagnostic jumper (OBD1 system)
i insert my paper clip jumper
then crank the engine for 5 seconds, release the key (not off)
and behold , i get CEL flash codes,
saying,,,,, bad CMP, BAD CKP
all cars up to 1996 (most) work like that, they have flash codes.

now my useless guesses.....
my guess. is ckp sensor wires fell off
the ground to the DIZZY snapped.>
?
i take a spare good spark plug , gapped to spec.
i ground the shell off the spark plug to the engine metal.
i connect the spark wire.
i then crank and see.????
see video of spark

http://www.fixkick.com/videos/FLV-all/showtime.html#sparktest

the coil can be tested by making a spark test wire, (old spark wire)
and an aligator clip, we ground the spark plug.
dizzy cap removed.
then connect the clip to the coil spring clip seen in the rock auto link above. and test coil spark,.
if all 4 spark plugs are dead and the coil is good.
99% of time its caused by
1: cam timing way off. slipped belt or chain snap
2: someone spun the dizzy willy nilly in its base.

Those are the ropes. i use.

No spark from ignition coil to start the engine of suzuki vitara16v EFI engine. what is the cause of it

what year? what country? sounds like suzuki G16b engine. is it? or 2.0L?
The reasons are the same basically for G16 or the 2.0L
Both engines have ECU.
Both need good fuses to power ECU and coils.
Both engines need working CMP.
my guess is this is a distributor engien G16b (YOU SAND COIL NOT COILS.)
1: fuses, test the fuses relate to ECM/PCM (3 fuses)
CEL LAMP MUST BE ON KEY ON OR ECU HAS NO POWER.
2: g16B( CRANK FOR 5 seconds), with scan tool connected.
A $50 tool that is indispensable.
P0355 or P340 DTC , bingo, no spark.
or while cranking RPM is dead at 0 RPM.
if all that passes, then check the coil signals. (@ minus term)
The coil has an ignitor in the dizzy and both can go bad.
recap.
power 12v to ECU
CMP working
ECu sees CMP and sends spark to dizzy ignitor.
Ignitor , drives coil, coil makes spark ,engine runs.
nut shell

Lost fire from distribitor

96 1.6l ( there are 3 fuses. FI, COIL and dome) fix those first.

the coil is inside, did you check the output of the coil
for spark cap off dizzy? is that no spark.?
is the tachometer dead cranking.? if yes no tacho, then there
is no coil drive. from ECU.
the Dizzy is 100% controlled by the ECU.
the ECU has an OBD2 scan port above the right knee,
plug in any scan tool ($50 hand held)
crank motor over , see if RPM shows up, if not then CMP is dead.
read the scan tools DTC codes, is the ECU complaining of bad sensors. ( this is #2 after fuses) do not work on cars with no scan tool, this is a waste of time, and money.
no start or better no spark. if really true.
sometimes mech think there is no spark but the cam belt slipped
or the cam is not even spinning, dizzy rotor dead, dont turn.
or the coil really does have spark and dizzy timing is way off.
Dizzy clamp bolt, loose? bad spark wires, connected backwards.

all here
