Most diesels will smmoke white on startup in cold weather. White smoke like this is usually just unburned fuel coming out the exhaust. Big trucks often have trouble starting in cold weather and will smoke and misfire like crazy for a minute or so on startup. As long as it goes away within a minute or so, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure if that Cummins uses glow plugs or not -- if it does, you may have a problem with them not preheating sufficiently for a clean start. Even so, that wouldn't be a real crisis unless you start to have trouble starting it.

'07 cummins engines are not to smoke at all. Cold, hot or upside down. If its smokin, its broken is the motto. '07 's are common rail fuel systems. I think you may have the DPF and the DOC exhaust system needs looked at. If no codes, have the dealer double check with ENSITE or comparable programs to check the engines crank and cam possitiion sensors to make sure they have the same rpm. you could have one going out. If just at startup you have smoke, may just be valve seals leaking. Good luck hope this helped.

by the way unburned fuel is black not white, thats oil...

Why is my Toyota Landcruiser 1HZ motore missing and blowing white smoke?

Air leak in the fuel line? All the lines are pressurised to some degree.
Do you mean it was sucking air on the tank to pump side?
Because its a diesel and you have white smoke and a misfire you need specialist help to identify which injector is playing up. White smoke is usually excess fuel or incomplete firing on that cylinder. Toyota lumps are very reliable so get some help, a good diesel mechanic would have a clip on tester that would check each cylinder.
At 2002 I'm surprised there is a fuel problem but you don't give mileage so an injector is the best guess.

5.9 2005 Dodge cummins diesel - smokes - cold or warm. Any suggestions on where to begin??

What color smoke? Blue means you are burning oil, possibly worn rings or valve seals. Gray is excessive fuel from worn injectors. White is antifreeze usually means headgasket.

2008 dodge ram 1500 loses power and has thick black smoke

do not use it!!! you will do more damage..
firstly, is the engine management light on?
if so you can try getting a diagnostics kit plugged into it. this will read all fault codes through the ecu.
if not you have a few things you need to check.
let me know

Its a 2004 2500 4x4 6 speed 5.9 cummins. got the front end hunh up in a deep mud hole. it has very little power now and has a wineing noise the more gas you give it. dont wine when idling. when you give it...

Sounds like you either broke (small crack) or may be smashed/crimped a fuel line. White smoke in diesels means that there is not enough fuel or that there is air getting in the line some how. Don't confuse white smoke with a blown gasket, this would smoke all the time

In my 2002 dodge ram 3500 5.9 l cummings i lose all power and

The first thing to do is to start monitoring the coolant level.
This will rule out the possible of headgasket coolant passage pin hole leak.
Headgasket can go at 170,000 miles+ Less if your truck is doing a lot of hauling.
====
Have you try Amsoil diesel treatment?
It work well for me.
====
I will ran the tank below 1/4 and fill up on NON bio-diesel blend.
Use Chevon diesel until you get the problem figure out.

Blue smoke is oil, probably a sign of worn rings, has it done quite high mileage?
