Nope, sounds like the coolant temperature sonsors have failed. they should be fairly cheap and easy to change. i dont know exactly where they are, usually on the intake or near the thermostat housing.

My Ford Expedition 99 still over heats mainly when driving for long periods of time. And especially driving up hill. Living in Samoa, it's hot and humid. Q

Are your radiator fans working? When the AC is on, one fan should be running constant. When the engine is overheating, both should turn on.

There is no good way to check coolant circulation through the engine and radiator, but if you squeeze the upper radiator hose shut with engine running and the thermostat open, you might feel a pressure surge and a rush of coolant through the hose as you release it- kind of a rough way to check that the water pump is pushing the coolant through. Also you might consider a pressure test of the system to ensure it holds pressure. The radiator cap is what holds the pressure in the system- about 13-15 psi. (Wish I was in Samoa tonight-freezing cold here in Montana.)

Why do both radiator fans run on high any time the engine is running,...hot or cold

There are certain positions for the climate control system that will cause the A/C system to activate. When the A/C is on, the radiator fans automatically run to provide airflow thru the condenser coils in front of the radiator. This could be the issue. Turn off the climate controls and recheck.

2004 ford thunderbird< radiator fan keep running

Hi Kevin. Since your fan run even when the engine is cold,my advise is to go direct to the temperature sensor, which actually is the main culprit for causing the confusion to the ECU. Since the temperature sensor does not work correct, the message send to the ECU is wrong - like is sending that the engine is hot - the ECU order the fan to start. Also there is another possibility for the fan relay to remain stuck and leave the fan to work constantly.

Good Luck.

Car never reaches operating temperature (cold weather) thus little to no heat inside

change the thermostat, sounds like it could stuck open and wont allow the engine reach operating temp, also test the constant control relay module located to the right of the battery as your facing the front of the car, also test coolant temp switch it might be defective and producing a high voltage that would cause the fans to constantly operate no matter the temp. Hope this helps

Follow up on 2002 caravan radiator cooling fan as a temp fix i just pulled the fuse for the fans. Now the check engine light is on. Can I drive this way a while? We are expecting sub zero weather.

Yes you can drive like that for a bit in COLD weather, the fuse pull is why the light is on.Did you look at the relays for the fan to make sure the contacts aren't stuck together?Im assuming they were running constant?

My Caravan radiator fans run constantly and the temp gage never moves off "cold". The engine is not overheating. I have replaced the temp sensor and the thermostat. No change.

The temperature sensor may be controlling the fan via a relay; these can fail by welding the contacts together remaining permanently 'on.'
Locate the fuse (and possibly relay) box, check inside the cover for a layout that identifies which fuse or relay controls the fan; they are often on their own fuse and definitely on their own relay.

Coolant fan not running

when diving in cold weather fans take longer to cut in due to cold air going through radiator will keep temp down, once stationary the cold air is not being forced through and the engine coolant temp will rise
