Have you checked to see if the brake switch at the pedal has failed? some times there are different wires out from the switch.

also, Do your signal lights work ok?

on the trailblazer the brake wire at the brake switch to test should be white wire, test it for 12 volts when pressing the pedal. if that doesnt show 12 volts, then test the orange wire beside it, that wire should read 12 volts all the time (ignition might have to be on)

if the orange wire has 12 volts onit, and the white one doesnt when you press the brake, then the switch is dead. to remove the switch, simply turn it counter clockwise abotu a quarter turn

The switch is very easy to change. unplug the connectors from it and to a partial counter clockwise turn and pull the switch out.

Look for a bad common ground connection for the two lights. Modern cars seem to have a problem making secure long-lasting ground points. There may also be a problem with the turn indicator switch as both lights are run through that switch.

Seems to me that if the center light works, the brake switch is working.

Have you checked the fuse for the brake lights and have you checked the brake light switch.
The brake light switch is directly above your foot when it is placed on the brake pedal.

Chevy trailblazer - brake lights do not work

try checking the brake light switch attached to the brake pedal, very common problem. has about 5 contacts in it ,they all operate different things. If you have a scan tool with live data readings you can watch them all. also check fuses and bulbs ,but you say the signals work so that seems ok.
