My abs light keeps going on and off - why?

try this --when you start the car fist keep your foot on the brake pedal keep it on then turn the key on --if no warning lights its your brake light switch

This question is VERY VAGUE...
How do you know that the ABS is not engaging?
Do you have a Check Engine Light?

Could be your abs if your abs light is on and won't go off that's probably it

One of two things is going on. One you might have a brake light that is intermittently working and not working. ABS light can be caused by a brake light that is out. The other thing is the ABS sensor itself is beginning to malfunction. This is located behind the hub. See pic. Hope this helps.

software? sounds like a bad wheel sensor, have the abs computer scaned for history codes to find the problem. most of the time its a abs wheel sensor that looses contact then starts working agian so light comes on and off, start with that good luck.

Do you have a check engine light? Sometimes a vaccum leak in the airbox/booster will make the abs go all screwy.
