I believe you have to get it recovered, or try a salvage yard

Leather Upholstery Cleaning

For those fortunate enough to own a BMW 2002 with leather upholstery, but who may be sweating about what to do with the color wearing off or cracks developing, try Mar Hyde Vinyl Color Spray. I have used only black but it seems to be a perfect treatment for the leather. Clean the leather first with saddle soap, using very little water to make the foam, or with mineral spirits such as lacquer thinner, used very sparingly. Spray the Mar Hyde on. It dries instantly and bonds to the leather without flaking or peeling. It gives an absolutely new appearance to the leather without drying it out as the water-based color compounds do. Mar Hyde should be available at most paint stores or paint distributors.

How do i take off the armrests from the bucket seats

  • On most vehicles the arm rest are attached the same way, here is something you can try...Put the armrest in the upright position. Look along the bottom and sides of the armrest where it connects to the body of the seat. There should be small circles like tabs if the armrest is made of plastic, and there should be a seam that you can look through if the arms are made of cloth.
  • Pop out the tab or peel back the fabric to reveal the holding mechanism. If the chair is screwed in then you'll need a screwdriver, and if there's a nut or a bolt then you're going to need a socket wrench.
  • Hold the armrest up and make sure it doesn't move. Unscrew or unbolt the arm from the bucket seat. Pull the arm outwards once the hardware is removed.

    Driver side door panel removal

Generic instructions to remove door panels:

    1. Remove the screw(s) in the trim behind the door release handle and remove the trim.
    2. Look for the screws in the arm rest and remove. Remove the arm rest.
    3. Look for other screws (possibly under caps) and remove them.
    4. Insert a wide flat blade between the door panel and the door. Find the plastic tabs which hold the panel to the door and gently pry the panel away from the door. Make sure you work as close to these plastic tabs as possible to avoid ripping the panel.
    5. Work your way around the door prying the tabs out of the door.
    6. When everything is free, gently lift the door panel straight up and out of the door.
    7. Disconnect the electrical wires, and you are done.
    8. There is a vapor barrier between the door and panel which must be gently peeled out of the way in order for you to gain access to the window and door latch mechanisms.

Wearing of leather on top of driver door from resting arm.

well i hate to tell ya this, but regular wear and tear of your vehicle isn't ever covered, its known that if you rub on some thing enough it will wear out. leather seats will crack when cold, they don't tell you to not sit down if your seats are cold, they don't tell you not to stab your seat with a knife, but that will ruin it. i'm not trying to be a **** but it happens. you can try to clean it though with leather conditioners, and cleaners, and you can try to put some thing over it to keep this from getting worse, other than that all I can tell you is to try to keep your arm off of this panel.
