Sounds like the starter solenoid is shot., Make sure the engine is not seized.

Where is the fuse relay for a 2003 Toyota Matrix

The solenoid located on the starter most likely has a wire either not connected,or open or the solenoid itself is bad(Check the wiring with known good pictures of the assembly and then use an inspection mirror to check that the wiring is securely mounted and then go from there(starter draw tests, jumper wire the solenoid itself)Its seems to be that the poles in the relaying mechanism in the solenoid aren't drawing the starter bendix in order for the spinning motor to engage the ring gear itself, thus you only hear the motor whirring but no magic,Jason...

2004 matrix will not start, turn key and will do nothing and i took the starter to be checked at the local Auto zone and it checked out fine

Does the lights go dim when you try to start the car?? If not then there is a starter relay in the fuse panel under the hood, try replacing it.The inside of the cover on the fuse box shows where the relay is located. If the lights go dim, then it's your battery is too low. It should be no less that 12.5 vdc.

My 2004 Toyota Matrix will not start, when I turn onver the ignisiton key, nothing happens. The light turns on, radio plays, horn ok and battery voltage is 12,6 volts DC

Do you hear a slight click coming from the engine area??? If not your starter selenoid is bad, and needs replacement. If you do hear a click but the engine is having trouble or slow very slow time turning, then it's your battery. If you hear your starter click, but no turn, then its your starter not turning over. If your instrument lights dim out by alot when trying to turn, then it still your battery which is drain. The battery doesn't completly need to be drain in order for your horn, lights to not work, It could be your battery simply drain and doesn't have enough cranking power to roll over the starter. But in this case issue description, It sounds like it is the starter. Could take it out and bring it to autozone and have them test it out.

2003 Toyota Matrix won't start. No click when we

yes theres is, try locking and unlocking the pass/side door with the key. you can check for power at the starter at the small wire if theres power at that wire when the key is held in the crank position then you have a bad starter try taping on starter while key is held in start if its starts when tapping then starter is bad, heres a diagram to show you were to tap and where to check for power, hope this helps.4a6e88f.jpg8d713e8.jpg

My car won't start it was ok yesterday i have 2005 toyota matrix 61000 miles Occasionally i turn the key and the thing just flashes instrument lights and makes a clicking sound.

Try having the starter checked - it might be going bad (or failed completely). If it's bad, it'll need to be replaced.

If you're getting instrument lights, radio, etc. but nothing that sounds like the engine trying to turn over, then it's probably not the battery, but it couldn't hurt to check that too.

When i try to turn over my truck all i hear is a click it has power and everything what could this be?/

If you mean - attempting to start the vehicle - all you hear is a click -

Then probably a bad solenoid.  Or possibly a low battery.

You state it has power.  Are the headlights BRIGHT when you turn them on... and stay BRIGHT when you try to start the truck.

A low battery - with practically no load - can easily measure over 12 volts - and not have enough juice to turn over the starter...

That being said - a clicking noise, and no starter engagement, or sudden downward change in the brightness of headlights; or drop in battery voltage while attempting to start the vehicle - probably means a bad solenoid.

The solenoid most likely has two copper washers on each side of a plunger.  The 'washers' have probably worn down over time.  They are actually copper contacts, and eventually wear out due to arcing.  If the battery is truly ok; remove the starter.  Then remove the solenoid from the starter; open it up, and take a look.  These contacts are available from electrical motor rebuild places.

The suggestion also would indicate that the starter has not been consistent in its operation in the past.  You have to turn the key several times, before the starter engages...  If you have not had it acting up before - or if some repeated turning of the key has not managed to get the starter to work - then possibly the actual starter went out - and not the solenoid.

The solenoid is that device, mounted onto the starter - which has a small wire going to it; and a large cable from the battery going to it... before you remove the starter to check on the solenoid - disconnect the negative terminal of the battery please.  Batteries carry a tremendous amount of energy.  Hope this helps.

Let me know what it was.  Thanks.
