If the battery was dead after it stalled, then the alternator is not charging, check the alternator anyway,it needs to be charging for the engine to stay running.

Cars battery was dead after jump starting the car

The cold air is not related to the battery trouble.

I order for your car to MAKE electricity, there must be some power in the battery. If your battery is dead, when you jump it, you can run the starter motor but if you dont put electricity back into the battery, the alternator will not make power. And ... you have the blower on consuming any power that might be remaining in the poor battery.

You might need a new battery and you might need a new alternator in your 15 year old Park Avenue.

2004 porsche boxer Why does the battery go dead after a month of no use?? the battery is new: My other car can be left idle for 2 to 3 months without a problem

All modern cars have a natural current drain; it's part of having an alternator. In today's vehicles, the parts of the alternator remain energized, as well as a certain few accessories, including your computer. A recommendation: if you aren't going to be driving your car for at least 2 weeks, unhook the battery, or install a battery cutoff switch. This way you don't kill the new battery. Your other car is likely a stroke of luck that enables it to last as long as it does.

1987 k5 blazer dies during driving

Make sure your battery is secured by a good battery hold-down system...if the battery shifts in the tray and the positive terminal touches the fender, the dead short will immediately kill the vehicle.
Also, take the alternator to a parts store and have it tested if your battery is held down firmly. The whining noise can be bad alternator bearings. On a vehicle of this vintage, this is a possibility for the noise. It is furthermore possible that the alternator has died electrically, and during a lengthy drive, the vehicle's own electrical consumption will drain the battery and the vehicle will die en route.
When you jump it off, it gets enough charge from the donor vehicle to drive, but if the alternator is dead, it can't keep the vehicle supplied with enough energy to operate.

2003 Honda Accord. Dies when I try to put it in drive

you are having a problem with your alternator. the battery has a main purpose to start the vehicle, keep computer memory, and give power to electrical components when the key is in the on position. the alternator charges the battery and gives power to electrical components when the vehicle is running. now when you hit the brakes there was an extra load added to the alternator and if the car died then the alternator is running very weak and needs to be relace.

Dead battery, but to know for sure the battery is the issue, it MUST be fully charged and then load tested...

Facts on batteries, if you draw it totally and completely down, many never return..

The reason for the battery charge is, for example, diodes in your alternator can fail, everything appears to work, but when the vehicle is off, there is a voltage leak to ground. To test, measure how much voltage and amperage is going out of the battery when the vehicle is off, pull negative and put meter in series at that point. Do not be fooled by radio and clock, and you may want to pull fuses until you get nothing drawing out of the battery....for testing

Battery goes dead when car sits 3-5 days 98 park ave

Obvious that something is drawing down the battery...Put a test light between the negative cable and the negative post of the battery (remove cable first) start pulling fuses till light goes out. That will tell you what system is drawing...you can then begin looking for the actual problem. If all fuses pulled and light remains on ,chances are you have an internal alternator problem.
