It may be that you your brake fluid is low. the only thing that the brake light indicates is when the parking brake is engaged or when the brake fluid is low. but im about 99% sure its gonna be the brake fluid.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much. I will check the fluid level. Thanks again."

VW golf mk4 press brake warning light not coming on

What brake are you talking about? The emergency brake or the brake pedal. Warning lights only come on when 1, there is a leak ing the system while driving and you loose pressure, 2. upon starting the vehicle as a bulb check, 3. When you apply the emergency brake. Have the brake switch on the pedal and emergency brake checked also check the bulb. If the bulb lit upon startup, it is probably the switch. Please give more details so that we can be better able to help you.

2003 Escapade by Jayco Class C Motorhome. The display for emergency brake light stays on regardless if the brake is actually on or off. Please advise.

Pull up on the emergency brake pedal with your hand to see if the light will go off. If it will. there is a slack adjustment for the cable going back to the rear brakes. If it won't then the switch is bad or out of adjustment. It's located on the emergency brake pedal

Have it towed to a shop! Do not drive this car! It seems that either your brake master cylinder or the brake booster or both have failed. You can no longer count on having brakes when you need them.

The cable needs to be adjusted so when the brake is released the pedal will come up completely.

Brake pedal goes to floor on first depression; then pumps up fine

Try this, apply the emergency before stepping on the brake.
If this helps the pedal, the rear brakes are out of adjustment.

Brake light comes on

ABS lite or regular brake lite?
If regular brake light you could have an internal leak in the master cylinder. The other options is that the brake light switch (on the emergency brake pedal or hand brake which ever is applicable) is grounded.
Either way have a repair shop check out both possibilities. They are a little tricky to diagnosis.

its possible the switch on the e/brake unit broke, take a flashlight and locate a single/double wire that goes to the e/brake assembly (this is the piece you depress with your left foot) and look to see if the wire is broken or the switch the wire goes to is broken.

there is a problem with the switch on your parking brake. my suggestion is, disassemble the switch and test with a multimeter if it's busted then replace it or repair the switch if you can.

Disconnect the battery for 1 hour before you start and the air bag will be safe, be very careful when removing it, they are still an explosive device.
